Maybe Toews is the more realistic target. He wouldn't cost us nearly as much as Kane would.
Agreed, and in a position of need. The man can win a FO, which is really handy on special teams. He would either play with Kap and Zucc, or beside Boldy. Either would be an improvement, even though Toews is near done.

Still would cost us a 2nd? I would do it if we could send Greenway and a 4th, or something like that. I think CHI will get better offers.

aren't you guys the same ones who said we couldn't afford tarasenko but we can afford kane???????
I think most people are joking about actually trading for Kane.
We can only afford Kane because Russo said he was an option.

This board lives and dies by Russo's writing.
Russo needs to leave. He has been getting worse and worse.
What are you two on about? Russo wrote an article about potential trade deadline fits AND the Wild have been linked to Kane by a source other than Russo. We CAN afford Kane’s current contract. We CAN trade for him since we have the pieces. We absolutely cannot sign Kane to a high priced extension.

Edit: and we absolutely shouldn’t trade for Kane either. We don’t need to be the one’s jumpstarting Chicago’s rebuild

Kane's had a bad season, only 35 points. And he's a friggin -28. We really don't need him.

What am I on about? NOBODY was talking about Kane in this thread prior to Russo's article.

Russo says it and then everyone starts trying to justify how or why it could/should/whatever happen.

Kane is just one example - without fail if a Russo trade article pops up on my athletic feed I can come here and see at least 4 people talking about how its a good idea when they had zero thoughts on the subject prior.

Foligno for a 1st. Greenway for a 2nd. Trade that 1st and 2nd and Peart for Kane.

Kaprizov-nobody-Zucc
Boldy-Freddy-Kane
Hartman-Ek-Walker

Have a fun month or so, then lose in the first round.

Gee willikers batman, you mean to tell me that we can’t discuss a player that the team has been linked to!?

Kane was linked to Minnesota BEFORE Russo’s article. That happened literally over this past weekend. Russo’s article didn’t come out until less than 10 hours ago.

Did you even read the article? He lists EVERY player that could be a fit in that article. Kane, Duclair, Boeser, Bertuzzi, Barbashev, JVR, ROR, Toews, Acciari, Monahan, Domi, and Schenn.

Hardly insightful to say this team could definitely use any of the above players.

I guess we can’t discuss them either or you’ll throw a hissy fit about how Russo sucks and Wild fans just mindlessly follow his word?

I will throw a fit if we trade anything close to a 2023 1st+2023 2nd+prospect for a couple months of Kane. This draft is the one to have multiple 1st round picks.

Someone mentioned Patrick Kane as an option to the Wild and now I am daydreaming of us finishing the season with the Kap line, GREEF, and Boldy - Rossi - Kane.
I posted this before the season started in this thread.

It would stand to reason that if the teams most connected beat writer writes an article linking us to a player, we're gonna talk about that player, and whether we want to get that player or not. I don't see the problem here.

Wait till they figure out that it was Chicago’s Athletic writers doing the link first.

Minnesota Wild: If the Wild can establish themselves as a safe bet to make the playoffs in the coming weeks, they could be an intriguing option for Kane, who could reunite with Ryan Hartman and play opposite Kirill Kaprizov. For now, the interest might be more on Minnesota’s side than Kane’s.

Or this:
The Carolina Hurricanes, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, and Vegas Golden Knights have "confirmed interest" in acquiring the pending unrestricted free agent's services, reports The Athletic's Scott Powers and Mark Lazerus.
