Greenway to Vancouver.
Boeser and Foligno to Buffalo.
Buffalo retains 50% and sends Boeser to Minnesota.

Vancouver gets Greenway + $3.6M in cap space. Buffalo gets Foligno for cap space they're not using, essentially they're paying Foligno $6.3M per year for 2 years. We get Boeser at $3.3M for Greenway and Foligno.

Works for us cap-wise. Could even try to figure out a Mittelstadt angle included.

Who says no?

My only hesitation is that Foligno still might fetch some nice futures on his own and attaching him to Greenway hurts his value. But I think Boeser has become a bit underrated and him at 3.3M is a solid partner for Boldy

Why would Buffalo do that?

Buffalo would need at least a 1st coming back to make that work.

I can’t quantify the “the Kirill not thrilled factor” but I was hoping he would be moved last off season to help keep #22
That would have been a legit reason for moving Zucc. Trading him now, to keep Freddy Hockey?

I would be po’ed if I was on an offense starved team that traded not one, but two PPG players.

Cap space is a huge asset. They could sign a better player than Foligno for that much money.
They could, but will they? I think they played ~$18M under the cap this season. Foligno would just replace Okposo's number for this next year and they'd still have ~$18M to play with.

You take Foligno's cap hit out of it, because that's already what it's going to be. Now it's just ~$3M in extra cap space lost vs. whatever it would've taken to acquire him otherwise (picks/prospects). Both are assets, it's just a matter of how they'd value them.

I wonder what kind of asset Gus could fetch in the offseason. Depending on his contract expectations, I do think there’s merit in exploring a trade for a blue chip center prospect.

Goalie performances are so variable year to year & it feels like selling high is often the right move. However if he wants to commit here long-term at a cheap price, then I think that may be worth the gamble.

Goalies typically don’t carry much value unless they are deemed a no doubt top-15 starter and have a track record of being that. Gus/Wallstedt is a good duo to ride of into the night with.

I don't think his value is anywhere near a blue chip center prospect. Closest comparable I can think of would be Nedeljkovic who returned a 3rd round pick

Yeah, wasn’t aware how bad returns for even decent goalies have been in the past. Definitely would rather hold onto him instead of getting a 2nd/3rd round pick.

Any interest in Kravtsov as a buy-low candidate? Surely he can't be much worse than Duhaime/Foligno/Greenway on Boldy's line.

Yes. Too skilled to not take a shot at.
Maybe for Greenway but Kravtsov's contract ends this season.
He's an RFA, 23, and has been mishandled by the Rags every step of the way. His next deal will be affordable, and when you're in our situation, you don't give players like Sam f***ing Steel a shot and not this guy.

Will it be affordable?

Also regardless of mismanagement or talent, Krastov has only scored 3 goals and 3 assists in 28 games this season. At least Steele managed a bit more from the Ducks in the years he was there and he was also mishandled.

He's been requesting a trade for a while. I just don't see a lot in him other than him going back to Russia.

Hey, so there's been a TON of scouting between Chicago and Minnesota as of late.

Who do you think Minnesota is targeting, and who on the roster is available for trade?

Greenway is available for trade and I’d image we’re looking for a winger to playe with Boldy or a center upgrade on Steel.

This team 100% should be in on Kravtsov. Rumored price is a 3rd.

Kane wouldn’t come here and Guerin wouldn’t move the necessary pieces, imo
I could see Kane coming here, probably has good memories of torching us in the playoffs. Good opportunity to be put in a position to produce if he looked at Fiala’s performance from last year. If I’m Kane, I’d be trying to up my value for UFA.

As far as Guerin goes, I could see external pressure from Leipold thinking Kane’s playoff experience could be our missing link. I hope it’s not the case, I’m just going off these random rumors that somehow think we’re interested.

With our defensive prospect pool, I could see Guerin moving one of them plus one of our 2024/2025 1sts since it’s unlikely for that player to be an impact player in his GM tenure here. As you get longer into a GM’s tenure, they seem to always favor moves like this. Guerin’s done a good job of avoiding that, but he did offer a 1st for Fleury (conditioned on playoff success).

I wouldn’t mind McCabe from Chicago if there was some retention, I wish Goli wasn’t around so a move like that would actually make sense.
