but these are the same fans and people openly mocking and laughing at the Jackets and the fans just a few months ago. So its whatever

They probably havent said anything worst than what CBJ fans themselves have said in the GDT's.

As for the playoffs... I'm beginning to wonder if 3 wins in the last 4 games will be enough. Regardless, playing meaningful games on April 18th, and having hope of reaching the playoffs is a really good thing.

I think it does. We are then at 55 points. Detroit would need to go 4-1 or 3-0-2 to knock us out. Dallas would need 5-1 or 4-0-2.

We might have outside shot of getting in with 54 points (2-1-1).

Portzline just tweeted a great comment from Todd Richards. Comment was on the possibility of ending the Wings 21-year playoff streak. "You know what? It has nothing to do with the Detroit Red Wings. It has everything to do with the Columbus Blue Jackets. That's it."

Translation: F U Detroit, we're making the playoffs.

So, I am a Vancouver fan the rest of the week. After tonight, I am a Kings fan until the playoffs start. I am a SJ fan the rest of the way other than when the play us. I am an Avs fan the rest of the way.

If Vancouver wins their next two and we somehow win tonight, that really helps the cause.

We with the way this is going down, we are really living up to the Wild West.

Not in any way a Blue Jackets fan, but I'd love to see them in, and i'd love it as much to see the Red Wings OUT. Go Jackets!

That is what I am thinking. 55 points and the CBJ are in. 54 points is iffy.

And does it matter which game is the L, if there is going to be one? I guess not so much, but one of the W's would have to be Dallas, yes?

Agree, one of the wins probably has to be Dallas.

just popped in a handful of other teams "around the NHL" threads. Everyone is raving abuot columbus and how they respect us so much. Even Nashville of all fans are pulling for us.

I've never seen the whole NHL pull for a team like this, let alone ours. I'm enojying it even if it doesnt last.

Nashville has great fans. Every time I go down there to watch a game, the Nashville fans treat us with great hospitality. The Bridgestone Arena ushers have told me that Columbus fans are their favorite and best behaved visiting fanbase.

Take a trip down there sometime and wear a CBJ jersey. You will be treated tremendously well all down Broadway.

The west is ALWAYS the best. Most years its not really comparable. The depth of the conference is always impressive. I think we'd be in easy if we were playing in the East.

We would have made the playoffs another year or two had we been in the East.

I'm not so sure. We have basically sucked forever. Comparing point totals isn't a good gauge. I am concerned that our style might not hold up well against what I perceive to be a more offensive oriented conference. I guess we can point to the Devils as a team that plays like we do and has had some success but I'm just not sure.

Nashville is the only thing I'll miss about the move away from the Western Conference.

Well there was our loss, pretty much have to win out and even that might not be enough. Good news is that we play Dallas once. Vancouver better get the in the game against Detroit.

The way I see it, here's our rooting interests tonight, Thursday April 18th:

Columbus over LA Kings (obvious interest is obvious)
Phoenix over St Louis (7th place is now in play)
Vancouver over Dallas (need to be a point clear of Dallas)
San Jose over Minnesota (6th place isn't totally out of play)

Florida over NY Rangers (draft lottery, baby!)
Winnipeg over Carolina (draft lottery, baby!)

yes.

Immediate ramification: Dallas edges 2 pts closer to us, with TWO games still in hand.
St Louis is likely uncatchable. Minnesota might still be catchable.
Winnipeg and NYR stay tied in points, although NYR with one game in hand.

Tonight's rooting interests, Friday April 19th:

only two of the six games tonight mean anything to the CBJ.

St Louis (home) over Dallas 8pm (We need STL to come up big tonight. Have to narrow that gap with the games in hand advantage Dallas enjoys)

Buffalo over NY Rangers 7pm (would pull WPG and NYR to even in points and games played)

Rooting interest in the STL-DAL game really clarified given last night's loss.

To state the obvious we are effectively tied at 49 with either Dallas or Detroit with them having a game in hand after giving one of them the 2 pts from their head to head. Tough road for the jackets but hey its been tough since they were 5-12 and whatever. maybe the hockey gods will let them have one.

Sacrificial goat time.

I would love to see the kings again this season.
