Damn we really needed that win. They need a break though. On the bright side Prout is 11th in the entire NHL in +/-. That being said hes averaging 18:16/game. While hes not ever going to put up big numbers, things happen in his favor when hes on the ice most the time. I guess it was kind of a blessing in disguise having Murray out of the lineup for the season. I honestly dont think he would have been called up, unless of course Murray himself got hurt. During the game last night they mentioned that Don Cherry was going to be doing a special on him Saturday night, he seems to think hes one hell of a player.

These next few games might as well be playoff games and even if we dont get it in, the lottery draft is in ten days :D This offseason will be just as exciting as the season was. I have a feeling Jarmo isnt quite done yet. A little fine tuning still needs to be done. Mason, Brassard and Moore were just fat, with a little bit of good meat attached(Moore).

St. Louis up 2-0 on Dallas in the second. That's a huge help if it holds up.

I can't wait to see what Don Cherry says about Prout.

Rangers now at 14 goals in last 2 games; hopefully they use them all up tonight.

The Rangers will get in. I just hope its as the 8 seed and they get pounded by a healthy Pens team in the first.

Thinking about the draft....we gotta get Mackinnon. Would a team bite for Murray and one of our firsts?

Nobody. Especially after his shoulder injury. No shot at getting in the top 5 unless we package Murray with all 3, AKA not going to happen.

Puts Dallas' maximum point total to 55 (just like CBJ) except they have to go 4-0 to get there where Columbus only has to go 3-0

I'm not in agreement here. Lots of teams would have more use for Murray than Mackinnon. We'd have to add but not that much.

Franchise Center >>>> 1st Pairing Defenseman

I like the way you think lol. So since we've commented on this on another thread, the question is would you trade Murray + 1st (10-24) for Mackinnon. I say yes.

Again....I have no idea what other teams would do here. They'd probably stay pat.

I don't like using archetypes like "franchise" here because it elides the nuance of a situation. Some teams might consider the difference between Mackinnon and Murray to be marginal, and more obviously some teams, even at the bottom of the league, have franchise centers already but fail because of defence.

If folks want to take this any further move your remarks to the draft thread. We've already talked about this. The consensus was that Murray would be top 5 this year. I at one point wanted to move Murray + a pick for Mackinnon, but few agreed and I've since moderated on that view since I don't think we're as imbalanced with Moore gone and Arty stepping up.

This isn't possible because the Cbj and Stars still have to play one game against each other. It's not possible for both teams to win out. Let's assume cbj win out and gets 55 points, Dallas can only win thier other three and finish at 53. If cbj wins out, Dallas is automatically eliminated.

columbus finishing out with three wins eliminates dallas; however, what does it do to Regwings with 5 games left. those fing games must result in fewer thanfour wins to keep Cbj in the 8th spot.
