Question for you guys here.

In a full 82 game regular season, does the team manage to still be in the playoff hunt at the end of the season, like it is now?

Would depends I guess on how much someone thinks this is all on Bob. I remember saying after they announced there would be a shortened season, something to the affect that anything could happen, in a short season, if the team gets on a roll, a goalie gets hot, or there's a prolonged slump...

Also depends on what you think would be happening with the rest of the teams. Is Nashville as bad as they've shown? Phoenix? Does it give Detroit more time to prove itself or more time to fall apart?

If you are talking about this season going another 34 games, I think they hang in. Bob is in a zone, the rest of the guys have bought in and other teams are struggling.

If you are talking about next year, I would like to think so but I have a few concerns:

Bob is playing at max right now and i don't know if he can keep that up or resume after an off-season;

Our lack of offense will bite us as soon as (if) Bob starts to give up a few more goals

I don't know if the team can play at the energy level they have for the last 25 games or so for a full 82.

In the meantime having lost most hope for the first pick I hope they just hang on for 5 more games.

I think the major reason for getting so close to playoffs is largely based on Bobrovsky coming of age this season, if it were 82 games I see no reason for him to drop off his play...

It's more than just him though, the room has changed with the addition of the Ranger players, Foligno and the awakening of Atkinson and Calvert.. I also think the change in management has had an impact psychologically in addition to the big trade for Gaborik.

It’s a significantly different organization from last season… I don't think other team performance is a major factor...

A full 82 game season would also include a regular training camp and pre-season. With that happening I don't see the team getting off to that 5-12-3 start.

I don't see them being able to keep up this effort over the full 82, but if they don't have that start, I don't think they have to.

This 100%. Its unreal that they only have like 3 losses in regulation in the last 25, and they're only fighting for a spot.

Hope you guys hold on to that final playoff spot. Your fan base has been through hell (I can relate) and deserves it.

The way I see it, here's our rooting interests tonight, Thursday April 18th:

Columbus over LA Kings (obvious interest is obvious)
Phoenix over St Louis (7th place is now in play)
Vancouver over Dallas (need to be a point clear of Dallas)
San Jose over Minnesota (6th place isn't totally out of play)

Florida over NY Rangers (draft lottery, baby!)
Winnipeg over Carolina (draft lottery, baby!)

I have never in my life seen a situation like this. Fans of every team (except the ones the Jackets are fighting) are actively hoping the Jackets make it. I think every fan base can relate to loyal fans getting rewarded for years of suffering, and a group of really likable, hard-working players giving everything they have every night.

I think it's fascinating and awesome.

count me as a fan of another team (Go Sens Go!) hoping to see you guys make it in! Plus, would be nice to see Foligno do well. Good luck the rest of the way!

My phone has been blowing up all day with people tweeting about my Dark Horses video.

Cool to see people believe in this team again. I know I had a hard time doing it the first 20 games or so of the season.

nice bit of trivia from that video...

What current Blue Jacket player has worn 3 different CBJ jersey numbers in the prior 12 months?

Gotta be Mark Letestu!

The Dallas game, besides the CBJ winning, is key. Stars have two games in hand. Cripes.

Sens fan hoping you make it in this year. Kept an eye on your team after the Vermette and then the Foligno trades.

You fans have supported your team through very tough times and for a long time.
It would be good to see you get some candy this year.

The support from around the league is very cool, even if some of it is based to a great extent on wanting to see Detroit out (and some of it may be from fans who'd rather face the CBJ in the playoffs!).

I do appreciate the love from the other fanbases, but these are the same fans and people openly mocking and laughing at the Jackets and the fans just a few months ago. So its whatever

Broad strokes my man, dont think it was their whole fanbases, probably just a few in the vocal minority. I think its great that other fans are noticing whats happening in Columbus. Up to this point, honestly , we havent deserved any respect, we were a poorly ran, losing team . Things are changing quick though, we have a ton of defensive depth, we have a great goalie, and we have 3 very solid lines with little drop off that bring it every night, we have JD and Jarmo, and we have 3 first round picks. I have been a fan since day one, which probably most here have been as well, but this feels like I'm supporting a real NHL team, one that most central Ohioans can identify with, a hard working , non glamour team, that just keeps their mouth shut, and shows up and works hard. I have noticed alot of non hockey fans talking about the Jackets lately. This is a great thing , Embrace it, it means we are doing things right, and people are noticing. Heck, Common Man has talked more Jackets this year than I have ever heard, this is a good thing.
