#8 Detroit Red Wings - 47 points - 6 games remaining (3H, 3A) - @Calgary, @Vancouver, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Nashville, @Dallas

#10 - Dallas Stars - 45 points - 6 games remaining (3H, 3A) - Vancouver, @St.Louis, @Los Angeles, @San Jose, Columbus, Detroit

Oh Noes!!! The Stars play at home vs Detroit in the final game of the season?

FACEPALM

So, no matter what happens, an hour after our last game ends, one of our two closest competitors for that playoff slot will be getting two points?

I'm more concerned about our schedule than anyone else. We have to figure out how to get 7 or 8 out of the next 10 points. 8 being the preference.

I agree, we have probably the toughest remaining schedule of all the contenders for the final spot. The remaining four road games against teams that are ahead of us or competing with us. It's going to be a tough road to hoe. I think our season will be decided after these next two games. They are beyond critical and it's going to take an unbelievable effort in both to win or get points. Certainly better than the efforts of the past two games.

I know it's just a typo and I hate to be Mr. Grammar Police but I'm pretty sure you mean "beyonce critical."

#5 San Jose Sharks - 51 points - 6 games remaining (4H, 2A) - Los Angeles, Minnesota, Columbus, Dallas, @Phoenix, @Los Angeles - Another team that is not playing their best, but they get some home cooking where they are very good. Also probably not catchable

I'm not that sure about them not being catchable.

The Jackets play them, so a regulation win catches up 2 of the 4 points.
If they lose one more than the CBJ in the rest of the games it would be a tie.
And the Sharks are the one team that could be beaten in the ROW tiebreaker.

Blues win, Wild and Sharks looking like they'll take their games too.

We'll just have to take the Wings' spot, then, :naughty:

Dare I say, tomorrow's game is critical? :sarcasm:

Tomorrow could be the end in the span of 30 minutes. A CBJ regulation loss combined with a Detroit win would basically derail the Believe Train, then pulverize it into a fine metal powder.

Being that I'm not fully on the Believe Train, I'd survive just fine. The world needs more people like me, y'know.;)

Hope you guys make it! I'm hoping to see Bob win the Vezina and even the Hart if you guys make it. I really hope you guys can end the Red Wings playoff era. Good Luck!

Have a steep hill to climb with the next opponents being in the third fourth and fifth places in the conference. I am afraid they boys are running out of gas.

Light slate of games tonight. Obviously a CBJ win and a regulation win for Calgary vs. Detroit.

Flames could win in OT/shootout and I would be satisfied. Detroit is probably seeing this one as a must win so anything other than 2 points will be a disappointment for them. Sure this represents the game in hand that they have on us and them getting no points would be ideal, but their schedule does get considerably more challenging after this.

Gotta stay positive, guys and gals - I'm trying to stay away from the negative vibes and subscribe to Bluto's approach to adversity.

Ducks? Dead!
Kings? Dead!
Sharks?....

Actually, I think tonight is HUGE. They way I see it, it is all about 2 teams at this point: Us and Detroit.

Having detroit stumble is almost as important as us winning at this point. I just dont see Dallas and Phoenix staying in it.

Also, I was worried about Detroit having an easy remaining schedule, but each and every night that passes, I'm more convinced that there is no easy game in the NHL. These teams that have nothing to lose (i.e. colorado last night), will continue to put up good fights.

Not to mention, I'm sure they are relishing the fact they can play spoiler to detroit's 22 year playoff streak.

Question for you guys here.

In a full 82 game regular season, does the team manage to still be in the playoff hunt at the end of the season, like it is now?

I think they'd be in the thick of it, not scrapping for a long shot at the 8th seed. The trend is up, after having started so rotten due to unfamiliarity bred by a week of training camp.

If they'd started inexplicably hot and then faltered to this point, it would be another story. But this is a different team so the old stink has been removed from the room. They're only getting better, and another 34 games would see them solidify their place above the bar

depends if we get Gaby in February at the deadline or not...the team prior to his trade, I don't think they sustain the intensity needed to compete for it, I think he becomes that missing piece to make them believe
