I never said Pierre had a good coaching record as a head coach, but he has a ring as an assistant, and as a head scout. I'd say that's a decent resume for a front office job and or coaching position somewhere in the league. Not here. Never wanted him as our coach.
We should fire a guy who lost the team because he lost the team, they weren't responding to him and were fed up. I think Torts is a great coach in the right situation, his window was short and he had his team last year and didn't get it done. His system was no longer effective and it obviously wasn't a big hit with the players either.
Boucher on the other hand is a young and relatively unproven coach who has shown creativity, and tactical prowess. While not having a cup ring he did take a team the same distance as Torts took the Rangers in the PO's in his rookie season. He never had a goaltender and I'd be interested what he could do with this team, given the fact he had 4-5 bottom 2nd/3rd liners on that Tampa team put up career numbers under him with a 78 year old Dwayne Roloson in net.
He's a better choice in my mind than AV, Ruff, Crawford, and Maurice.
Eakins is young and unproven as well, but he deserves an NHL coaching job it most likely will end up being with a smaller market team.
