you think mcguire is a better choice than a hockey God, because mcguire failed as a coach 20 years ago. How did it work out when barry melrose came back to coaching? you're right, you're not going to get through to me.

No one is advocating either one of these two bald men. This is like one of those games where you have to pick between living abstaining from sex or doing it with a cactus.

I never said Pierre had a good coaching record as a head coach, but he has a ring as an assistant, and as a head scout. I'd say that's a decent resume for a front office job and or coaching position somewhere in the league. Not here. Never wanted him as our coach.

We should fire a guy who lost the team because he lost the team, they weren't responding to him and were fed up. I think Torts is a great coach in the right situation, his window was short and he had his team last year and didn't get it done. His system was no longer effective and it obviously wasn't a big hit with the players either.

Boucher on the other hand is a young and relatively unproven coach who has shown creativity, and tactical prowess. While not having a cup ring he did take a team the same distance as Torts took the Rangers in the PO's in his rookie season. He never had a goaltender and I'd be interested what he could do with this team, given the fact he had 4-5 bottom 2nd/3rd liners on that Tampa team put up career numbers under him with a 78 year old Dwayne Roloson in net.

He's a better choice in my mind than AV, Ruff, Crawford, and Maurice.

Eakins is young and unproven as well, but he deserves an NHL coaching job it most likely will end up being with a smaller market team.

sorry, but experience as a head scout and an assistant from 20 years ago should not garner any attention for a head coaching position.

you cant fire torts and hire boucher. can't do it, way too risky.

Anybody offhand know of any coaches that made an immediate impact jumping from the AHL to NHL?

As they say every coach has an expiry date.

I think you guys would be lucky to get AV as a coach. He has a very good record in Vancouver. He would get your top players to play well for him for at least a few years. Most Canuck fans just don't like how he deals with younger players and putting them on a short leash...one wrong play and thats it.

But I do believe he and your team would do very well together. He certainly wouldn't destroy any players in the media.

Which is a major problem because we have guys like Kreider, Lindberg and possibly Miller expected to make contributions next year. The new coach needs to be patient with Kreider and give him a bonafide top 6 chance.

Would the cactus call me the next day?

Yet hiring Messier who has no coaching experience whatsoever at the NHL level isn't risky?

Congratulations, you had us going. What was your previous username? Epic troll is epic.

I'd take Guy Boucher over either Pierre or Mess any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

If Messier is a hockey God then Gretzky must be the physical manifestation of hockey itself. I remember how excellent his coaching tenure was.

Two different guys. I never said mess would be a good coach because he has 1800+ points. In that case, Oates shouldn't be a coach because gretzky sucked.

when did i say hire messier? hire messier over pierre, yes. over anyone else, I didnt give my opinion. very perceptive of you barb, stick to analyzing pierre's resume.

Am I in the complete minority on here for not seeing what the heck people would want Boucher here as Torts replacement?

Like, I really can't wrap my head around it.

I don't want him either, but they have completely different systems.

This is one of those classic moments where it won't flush and all the sewage water flows back out along with everything else.

see, this isn't true. All i pointed out is that some people would like a guy who only has experience at failing, 20 years ago mind you, over messier. Who i am not endorsing, but would select over pierre mcguire.

That's a valid opinion, as is everyone else's.

If you're not advocating Messier and we're not advocating Pierre this is pretty much pointless is it not?

Gang, there's a reason Pierre Macguire hasn't coached in the NHL in 20 years. He is a very intelligent person who gets the game, but he has zero people skills, comes off as arrogant, and is negative. He's also obnoxious and emotional, albeit in a different way than Torts.

Enjoy this article.

Yeah I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole honestly, let the Canadiens make that mistake when they fire Therrien halfway through next season or Bergevin.

i dont care who anyone would select as coach. its a discussion and its completely idiotic to me that mess is receiving way more push back than a guy like pierre mcguire. some of these coaching suggestions dont make sense at all. all i'm saying.
