Mike Commodore tweeted that Pierre ruins hockey because of his ballwashing, and Mike Modano and Theo Fleury retweeted it. I doubt any NHL team would hire him as a coach, the players would never take him seriously.

It's hilarious when people tout their choice as "knowledgeable". They're all knowledgeable. Tortorella's knowledgeable. Renny's knowledgeable. Who isn't impressed by Tortorella when he talks nuts and bolts hockey - post game circuses not included?

I've said it before, but I honestly wouldn't mind McGuire as an assistant coach. The guy knows hockey, and he has a coaching history.

I would put Pierre in sole charge of the PP... But he's better where he is... He wouldn't be able to watch all those Marlie games

That said, I'm pushing for either guy Boucher or tippet... love what the yotes did last year, and though I'm not familiar with Boucher, the second tenure opportunity may be ideal for him

Yeah, blame the coach for players not scoring. However, lets ignore everything he did over the regular season his entire tenure. :shakehead

AV had the best talent for 5 years and somehow managed to lose 10 of his last 11 playoff games including getting shut out in a game #7 of the SCF!

Realistically, torts system works good for a last place, superstar-less team... like the Florida panthers. the system is designed so that everyone has a very minor role, in that together they can produce a tangible and formidable team effort...

when you have a 7m sniper and 6m top line 30+ year old center, this system no longer works... star players are paid to be just that.. star players.. they hustle down the ice, get into position, score clutch goals, etc etc...

Basically, we finally have some developed roster. We don't need this system anymore.

So what will happen now is that Tort's next NHL coaching job will be for the team that leads the league in every offensive category. It would almost be worth it. You could come on here an hear peoples brains melting.

It was 1994, which is a year we all know well as a long ****ing time ago, but that was the last time Pierre was a head coach in the NHL, and he went down as one of the worse coaches ever. There's bad NHL coaches, and then there is Pierre Mcguire. And this was 20 years ago. The game has passed him by, and he was never anything to begin with.

Oh.

Well, in that case, I'd stay far away.

Thanks for the link.

Anyone else miss Torts, already? Man, I loved that guy. He is so loyal to his players. People misunderstood his intentions, ie: the Hagelin comments, etc. Look how he protected Richards... that's insanely commendable. I'm the same way, blunt, harsh, and insanely loyal to the people I care about.

I really hope we find someone that can make us better, because right now, I'm definitely upset he's gone. Obviously, something had to change, and I realize that. Still, he's by far my favorite coach outside of Keenan (obvs).

Torts positively impacted these guys in a lot of ways, even though not everyone may see it, now.

What is going on with these creative ideas? Laviolette, Pierre McGuire? It's not like the league is fresh out of coaches and it's time to start prying coaches who are still employed or speculating around TV personnel. We have more than plenty as far as options are concerned. At this point, the fewer the better.
