Voted in the poll for Eakins only because I don't want the retreads (Ruff, Vigneault, etc.) and I think a guy like Babcock, who I agree is the best coach in the league, are pipe dreams.

What do you guys know about him?

Tippett is an excellent coach, but he also preaches a defensive style. We have talented defensemen and a great goalie, we can play a little more open style, even if it leads to a few more odd-man rushes - even Del Zaster breaks up 3 on 2's pretty well, and McD does it all the time.

Tortorella, 54, also was criticized for his handling of two important players. He benched veteran forward Brad Richards for the final two games of the Boston series (though Sather said Wednesday that was an "organizational decision"). And promising rookie forward Chris Kreider spent the season in and out of the Rangers' lineup, ricocheting between the NHL and the team's minor-league affiliate in Hartford, scoring just three goals over 31 regular-season and postseason games after scoring five in 18 playoff games last season.

"I took a lot of positives," Kreider said in a telephone interview. "I think he's a really good coach. I really learned a lot from him…There's a lot that went on this year that I'm not used to in terms of the pro game and how everything is done inside the locker room and the front office. This is another example of that."

People voting for Guy Boucher, do you remember that game against Philly where Pronger held the puck behind his net for over a minute? Safe is death right?

The Ducks under Mike Babcock's tenure weren't a puck possession team. They were constantly outshot in the regular season and playoffs. Lidstrom, Datsyuk and Zetterberg can make Torts look like a Jack Adams Nominee. No coach can steer ship of a roster single handily like that.

Now that my dreams have come true, who's next?

Guys I definitely don't want.

Alain Vigneault, Lindy (Lindsay) Ruff, Mark Messier, Pierre Mcgquire.

If it had to be one of those men, my choices would be in that order. AV reminds me of a slightly better version of Tortorella. Ruff seems like a wash. I don't see the point with Ruff, at all. Our offense would be better, but I'd see a lot of the same problems with those two.

Mess and Pierre are just lol. I can't believe people here are recommending Pierre. Pierre is a moron. Mess is a wildcard. He could be great, he could be the worst thing ever. I don't know. Too much of an unknown.

Guys that intrigue me.
Dallas Eakins, Guy Boucher

I don't know anything about Eakins, other than people here seem to like him. I like the fact that he's a new blood. I hate recycling old guys who just got fired for (probably) legitimate reasons.

Watch me immediately contradict myself with now putting Guy Boucher in the same group. I like coaches in their "second job." And that goes in any sport. Not totally inexperienced at this level, still young enough where the hunger and new ideas are there, but lessons are learned with the first failure. I'd prefer Guy to the AV's and Ruff's any day of the week.

Hire him tomorrow if you can
Dave Tippett, Mike Babcock

Tippett's supporters here have done well. I just think he is a rock solid coach who gets the most out of his team, and our roster, while not perfect, still has a lot to get out of it. Tippett can do that.

Babcock is obviously unrealistic, but I'd seriously trade draft picks for him. Brian Boyle too. Best coach in the league.

I would kill for Babcock, but even if the Wings lose tonight, I can't see him leaving. Tippett is most likely staying with the Coyotes.

And how is Pierre a moron? The guy might be a bit weird and what not, but the man knows his hockey. He's among my top 3 choices, but heard he'd only leave his current position for a GM job (hell, fire Sather and hire him:laugh:)

Boucher would have a much better defense and goaltending than he had with the Lighting, but he also wouldn't have a Stamkos/MSL here as well. I'm on the fence thinking he'd work here, though. Could implement a solid offensive system here.

AV would be an interesting choice. Less abrasive than Torts, and would improve the offense I would think. Canuck fans seem to think he's similar to Torts, though.

Absolutely no to Ruff, no point in hiring him after firing Torts.

I don't understand the people who say I coaching change won't make a difference...maybe we are better next year or maybe we are worse as the team adjusts but it was time for Torts to be gone. His defensive zone strategy baffles me..you have the best goalie in the world and certainly a top 5 D corps when healthy...so why collapse? That seems to me like a strategy without much back end skill or a goalie. I thought one of the luxuries of having a great goalie and good skating d besides obviously limiting scoring is that there would be less burden on the offensive players in the D zone. That could allow them to have some semblance of a breakout and transition game which I think will help the goal scoring.

Is there something I don't understand? I love Torts as a person I just didn't think his system made sense.

I don't see how Sather escapes this unscathed after burning through 6 coaches and no cups

He's bullet proof.

Exactly right! When the **** does this overpaid ,do nothing clown start taking some responsibility for never winning anything here?

Is he looking for a job?

People really think players would respond to Pierre?

I just don't see it. Can't see him commanding a lot of respect in the locker room.

I know Torts never played in the NHL...but Pierre just is the prototypical "never played the game" guy. Which is as nice as I can put it...

Guy Boucher
Dallas Eakins
Pierre McGuire

Those are my guys.

has McGuire ever stated he wanted to get back into coaching? i would not mind Boucher or Eakins. i dont want Ruff or AV. heck id rather bring back Tom Renney back before Ruff or AV. i wouldnt mind Jeff Beukeboom or some younger blood.. enough of these "star" type coaches..

Yeah, its not like Babcock has had no success at the Olympics, or world championships. Also, his three times in the stanley cup finals don't really count much either.
