You know his contract demands? No one else does. Please lets us in on it.

Good hint when an offer has nothing but prospects so far off the radar you need Google to find out who they are......it's a horrible offer.

A2 has no more clue what the demand are then anyone else. But then again you know that already. :handclap:

There has been absolutely no report that they are "far apart". In fact, the reporter (Lawless) who reported that they remain apart on contract terms specifically told a local radio show in Winnipeg that he didn't want anyone to think he was implying that they are "far" apart on any contract terms.

I highly doubt that he'll end up being overpaid much, though perhaps a bit. Term will matter a lot, obviously.

I think it'll be something like...

6 x $5.25M (i.e. between Rielly and Jones)
7 x $5.75M
8 x $6.00M

That's a bit on the high side, but I think the Jets and fans would be fine with this to lock Trouba up long term.

I think it goes in reverse order typically (if I'm not mistaken)--more term + less money or less term + more money. If he signs for 6 years it'll probably be closer to 6M and if he signs for 7-8 years it'll be less...I think. At least that's what the narrative around signings seem to be like every year during the FA period :dunno:

There is a difference between UFA deals and RFA deals. If you decide to lock up a young player long term while they are an RFA, the more UFA years you buy = the higher the term.

Actually the report I'm reading has them stating Buff was looking for a $6.875M x 8 year deal

There was multi reports that came out, the one I referred to was the higher one. In the end both were very high and completely wrong.....that's the point.

Reilly or bust. We're stacked with forwards, we need young, good defensemen, and we won't trade Trouba for lots of smaller pieces. We need the LHD version of Trouba, period.

He isnt getting a fair return. Jets dont have the leverage to command a boat load in a trade. He reportedly wants a lot more than hes worth. I expect a Hamilton like return if hes traded.

Reportedly? Really?

Every report that people have quoted has already proven to be completely wrong. Where's your link to his "reportedly" high demands?

FYI you don't have one.

Jets fans are completely delusional with regards to Trouba.

As a Jets' season ticket holder, I see a lot of Trouba, and get to hear all the local talk, without the rose-coloured glasses of being a member of the fanbase.

Trouba is Bogosian's clone.

High expectations based on draft and his first couple seasons but the train is off the rails completely, at this point.

I can guarantee you that when the Hamonic rumours came out, that Chevaldayoff rang trying to unload Trouba for him. And Snow knew better.

That a bunch of Jet zealots come in here and demand Marner+Gardiner for Trouba is complete nonsense.

As Leaf fans we need to recognize a bad asset when we see it and avoid bad apples like the plagues they are.

Trouba is definitely not a Shanaplan asset.

Let Burke try an offer sheet and send Winnipeg the same package he sent to Boston for Kessel...

Of course you entitled to your opinion, but:

- The facts & data don't back up your opinion.

- Multi professional NHL GM's who have reportedly contacted Chevy about trading for Trouba don't agree with you.

- In fact the reports about Snow, were Snow asked for Trouba in return for Hamonic so Snow was asking for Trouba and Chevy declined the offer. Days after that Snow came out and said he's now not interested.

- You realize that Bogo is a solid 2nd pairing dman right?

TML need a RD. They have lots of LD.
Other than Matthews the only chip they have that the Jets would want/need is Morgan Rielly.

That's what it would take.

Agreed

Now that being said if Trouba had to be traded and no good young quality LHD (ideally) or RHD like Trouba were available at the time Chevy might take the best player available regardless of position but damn that would be one good young quality player (forward). Players similar to Trouba lately have returned huge forwards as returns.

I am fully expecting a long contract negotiation since we're pitting Chevy aganst Overhardt. No rush. Go get 'em, Chevy! If they really can't solve this, they'll hammer out a bridge deal. Trying to trade a major piece at this time of the year would be stupid, let alone for Maple Leaf table scraps rofl.

There really is no point talking about Trouba trades because that is not going down at all right now. Fortunately, the Olympics are starting soon. It'll give you guys something to do rather than gab over a dead horse.

You are way off base, but the Jets thank you for your patronage.

I think we should avoid Toronto - Winnipeg threads...

There has been so much trouble lately..

Rielly vs Trouba
Nylander vs Ehlers
Matthews vs Laine...

Other fans just come in here like

Lupul and Gardiner for Trouba?

Hmmm, nope not even a chance. If we wouldn't do Gardiner straight up for Trouba why the heck would we take a dump plus Gardiner for Trouba? Easy, hard, fast no......don't call back. Damn that's bad.

I won't insult you back with an equally ugly offer for Reilly.

Let me save everyone 2 days:

OP: Trouba to Toronto!

Jets Fans: Only if Rielly is coming back

Toronto fans: Yeah right bruh Rielly > Trouba

Jets Fans: Bruh advanced stats bruh!

Toronto Fans: Bruh points bruh!

Jets Fans: *Warrior Chart*

Toronto Fans: LOL As if those numbers even matter it's the eye test bruh!

Jets Fans: Bruh eye test? How many Jets games you watch bruh!??!

Toronto Fans: Bruh how many Toronto games you watch Bruh!??!?

And at this point, anyone who came to discuss this is long gone and it's like the same 6 people going back and forth.

There. I saved you all a tonne of time.

The truth is that any trade touching on Trouba is total trouble.

Trouba -- that starts with "T" and that stands for "trouble".

There's nothing the Jets want that the Leafs want to give to trade for Trouba. There's no trade there.

There might not be any trade anywhere for Trouba that would be terrific for any two teams.

Best thing the Jets could do is to sign him. Soon. Please!

Terminate the trade talk!

That is... actually close in value. Get rid of Mark Stuart and get a potential franchise 1C? I would do that. Oh, wait. Nathan Horton? No dice then.
