Garbage. No dedicated Leafs show? f*** off, Sportssh**.
Kyper & Bourne are on from 4-6pm as they were last year. The twitter link cut the pic.

It starts today (Oct 1st).

NHL media compared to nfl is embarrassing.
Friedman is so far up is own rear and he doesn’t have any insider knowledge. Just tries to report things quickly after they have happened and takes guesses on his hunches. Seems like Mareks ego somehow counteracted Friedemans but now it’s left unchecked.
Dreger is the same
They got some of the absolute worst insiders for this league. Weekes imo is probably the best out there.

My goodness has talk radio plummeted pretty much ever since COVID. Thank goodness my days driving into work and listening to sports talk radio ended then. Perfect timing.

Gone are the days when the Fan had an all-star lineup with Brady & Walker, Sid & Tim, Blair & Barker, and PrimeTimeSports.

There is something extra cringey about hockey insiders and the general hockey media. Most of them lack personality and quite frankly have 'weiner' energy. I don't find people like Friedman, Siegel, LeBrun, Dreger, Simmons etc relatable at all, these are not guys I could ever imagine myself wanting to talk to in person. Beyond being good at reporting things there is also an element of charisma that should be needed for a job like this, especially when you are on TV so much.

Kyper & Bourne from 4-5 is dedicated to the Leafs. 5-6 when they appear on TV is dedicated to covering the rest of the NHL.
They appear on TV for both hours of the s how on SN360. 6pm is the national radio hour, on all the sportsnet radio stations in the country. PTS had a similar 6pm national hour slot.

Well they dumped all their high priced talent after that hockey rights deal where they overpaid big time.

The shitshow started long before covid though, especially in the morning time slot after Brady & Walker was cancelled, the dumb experiment with Dean Blundell, then MacArthur and that girl that I forget her name because she only lasted like 6 months, then Bunkis & Ailish Forfar was also a failure in the morning...

Bunkis has actually done well since then on his own show which is 1-2 hours depending on the time of year.

I truly don't understand that fan pregame show (6-7pm)with Ailish and Justin Cuthbert, which many times gets cut off to only 30 minutes for ACTUAL pregame coverage for Jays or Leafs.

Well they're still going strong at least.

Usually a pretty entertaining duo, which is more than I can say for the vast majority of SN's lineup.

Also c'mon now, Sid was always an insufferable douchebag, even now that he's out of the mix.

Nailed it. Even Bobby Mac lost his lustre once he "retired" and immediately started slinging booze with his face plastered on the can.

The Knies conversation is driving me wild on Overdrive right now lmao. Saying he has never been a point producer even in College hockey....was a point a game over his College career. Noodles says he is 23 when he is 21.

Leave it to Noodles to be both wrong and pessimistic when it comes to anything Leafs.

I'm listening to Kyper and Bourne, and as Jimmy said earlier, it's been all Leafs talk for the first 40 minutes thus far. Too bad they're up against Overdrive.

Agreed, he seemed the most down to earth but the whole margarita thing is pretty cringe. PK Subban is a polarizing character and I think he definitely loves being in the spotlight a bit too much but I personally like him and some of the others on the TNT crew like Biz etc. Having more personalities like those guys spicing up the broadcasts and talk shows going forward is what I'd prefer over the 'milquetoast' types we currently have

What did he say now?

Also him to be positive on Montreal and especially Edmonton. Yet he claims he's not a fan of any team. He's not fooling anybody. You don't even need to see the final score of an Oilers game the night before. Just watch Overdrive the next day, and you'll know from Noodles mood if they won or not. I have seen enough Overdrive to notice the difference.

He can cheer for anyone he wants, but don't try to hide it. Just admit you hate the Leafs and love the Oilers. Hayes and Jeff don't hide they are Leafs fans.

Were talking about a potential Knies extension. He said the Leafs shouldn't do it because he has never been a scorer before even in college. Then compared him to Batherson who has a career high in the 70's and said Drake is 25 and Knies is 23 and doesn't think he can get there. I think he is massively biased towards the Sens as well due to calling all of their regional games. He takes negative opinions about that team like a personal insult to himself lol

I turned on OD at 3:02 and the first seconds I heard they were going on about basketball and quickly remembered RK&B and listened to 2 hours of Hockey while mowing.

Hour 3 of OD and they have some yankee talking NFL where tgey should have any football, golf, baseball and nonsense talk in the first two hours with the final hour dedicated to hockey.

That was the beginning of the plummet. It was even better before that era.

I think it's a symptom of a bigger issue, which is that the NHL is still bush league compared to the NFL, NBA and even MLB. The players almost universally have zero personality, and that theme runs through every other aspect of the game, including the media.

You're not wrong. This league as a whole is just awful at marketing itself and its players+product. Getting a clown like Kid Rock for the All-Star halftime show a couple of years ago says it all. f***ing embarrassing

So because the NHL players don't run with gangsters and drug dealers they're boring eh? ok...

I dunno about you, but I prefer players solidly committed to the game, and with the vast majority of them we get it, and the vast majority are decent people outside of the game.

Uh...what? Are Shaquille O'Neal and Charles Barkley running with gangsters and drug dealers? I always thought they were just really entertaining personalities, something the NHL doesn't have.

Right on cue ... Almost like JB reads HFBoards :naughty::naughty::naughty:

At least this time Bourne's actually got substance to his article and makes a solid case. Unlike "Easton Cowan is (one of the reasons) why the Leafs may finally figure it out this year" ;)
