Has anyone else seen a serious drop-off in CJ’s accuracy on the Leafs since Dubas left the organization?

I don't know who picked Craig Button to host Overdrive but this is almost unlistenable. Especially them on the Role Play Level of Concern Segment. No one explained to him how it works.

Just an absolutely brutal choice for 3 hours. Maybe a 15 minute guest hit but FFS this is awful.
I prefer Kyper and Bourne then switch to OD, but I had a hard job listening yesterday.

There are media guys who I like and who I dislike. But I can still listen to all of them.....except Craig Button. When I hear his voice it induces rage in me. I have to instantly turn the channel.

The QC
It goes way beyond the gm job he didn't deserve.
Cool. I don't know the guy outside that and what I hear on the radio. Nor do I want to. He's just another voice of many that talks hockey and Leafs. Means nothing to me other than entertainment for a few minutes a week ;-)

Hayes and O'Neill correctly asserted before the Blues game that all of the Toronto sports mood atm depends on the Leafs. I'm not fans but Raptors and FC are rebuilding, Jays won't be heard from for awhile. If the Boston game goes ugly things are going to feel grim quickly in town.

Yeah we're back to being a crappy sports town after a short window of competitiveness and optimism. Too bad. Leiweke put three MLSE teams on the right paths, two got Championships, and they've been mismanaged into the ground since. Everything Rogers touches turns to shit so of course the first guy to bring winning baseball back to this town gets canned and their preferred replacements Shatkins have squandered the Jays young core, not unlike the Leafs have.

Only the Argos are consistent as usual. Too bad only a handful of people in this town care about the CFL.

Argos could honestly go out in the East Semi final and lose by 50, and I'd still have more respect in that franchise and faith. Even just ignore their championships in recent history, they just operate as a professional team should.

Just take 2017- 2019, they win it all in 2017, and then have an awful 2018 with a 4-14 record. Instead of saying "hey it's a bad year after a championship, we are sticking with it". They fire coach Marc Trestman a year after winning with him. Than in 2019, after another 4-14 season, they fire GM Jim Pop. That team refuses to accept losing. They made tough decisions and now as a result have a great management group and coaching staff.

Just last game after the Argos nearly blew a huge 4th quarter lead, McManis one of the leaders called the team out post game including himself. Basically calling it unacceptable, and saying that is not how you play defence.

It's basically the opposite of how the Leafs and Blue Jays are run.

Unfortunately the owners don't give a shit about the Argos.

The leafs are the best major sports team in the city at the moment and our best hope for a championship . They’re the closest local team to contention this year. Unfortunately, this team led by this core, hasn’t proven that they are close to contention yet. It’s the opposite, they are stuck in the same pattern of the last 7 years. They are soft and selfish, they come across as spoiled, complacent, self-satisfied and entitled, they’re still immature, they are apathetic, they don’t care about winning, and they are hard to like. All this talent gone to waste. In this market, regardless of the sport, but especially in hockey, we love physical and hardworking teams with grit and blue collar attitude. Honest work for honest pay. Historically, the most beloved players on the leafs were intense, « what you see is what you get » type players. No shortcuts to the top.

If the current leafs were a far less talented team but were playing with purpose, energy, willingness to sacrifice for the team, desire to win and as a team- with good execution and cohesion- they would be loved here. We hate to see that their commitment to winning and hard work will never be as strong as their individual talent and skill.

The Blue Jays sucked last season but it’s baseball- teams can go from worst to first if they make the right moves in the offseason and get some luck in season. We could win the division next year if the jays make a trade or sign a quality free agent, the young players progress, the bullpen improves And gets better and the hitters remember how to swing and hit consistently well again. Of course we will need to avoid injuries.

Raptors are mediocre, injury prone(two of their starters, RJ Barrett and Immanuel quickley- are out indefinitely because of injuries)and lack depth/bench and a legitimate center/rebounder/power forward with effective and dominant front court presence-Jakob Poeltl aint that guy- but they are rebuilding and 4 of their starting 5 are young promising players under 25 . I hope they tank and finish among the worst seeded teams in the league because the NBA draft this year will be the strongest one of the decade so far. It will be Much better than last year’s draft class. Just Imagine elite players such as Cooper Flagg, Nolan Traoré, VJ Edgecombe, Ace Bailey or Dylan Harper wearing the Raptors jersey.

That's mainly because the CFL doesn't have a huge media deal, which means CFL franchise values don't escalate like teams in American sports leagues do. Big money has totally changed pro sports.

Nothing to do with that.

During the off-season someone high up in MLSE (cannot remember who right now) basically said they didn't give a shit about the Argos right before letting players walk in free agency.

I believe it was mentioned here on these boards as well.

The Athletic podcast would be so much better without Jonas. Mirtle brings interesting points, but his partner is a purposely obtuse, overly negative, STOOGE. Nobody likes this guy, why does he have a gig?
