Al’s brother hosting the lunch... Wow. I’m only finding out about this now. Andi leave to do soccer stuff or something?

Dangle podcast has been my primary Leafs content for a while now anyway. And Overdrive of course but they’re more a la carte. Maybe the lunch will crack the rotation again.

Probably Olympics too. She is always involved with them.

I very much disliked Sportsnet's coverage tonight.

  • Caroline Cameron has no business hosting the game night program. She's bland, not in command of the conversation, has zero personality and zero presence on camera. The absolute definition of a passenger.
  • What the hell was with the new game info graphics? The thing was way too wide, so they can add their logo (because the watermark to the top right of the broadcast wasn't enough - guess what, I know what channel it is. I pay for it) and they added advertisements at times

Terrible hockey broadcaster.
Sportsnet’s legacy will go down as broadcaster that killed HNIC.

Why does Sportsnet insist on trying to reinvent the wheel every few years?

Keep it simple and traditional. That's what the majority of viewers want.

The studio SportsNet put together at CBC was over-the-top, but at least it had a clean look to it. The one they have now put together at their own building seems stuck in the 90s.

Obviously more of a hockey guy, but Gareth Wheeler makes it near impossible to listen to the world cup soccer broadcast. The other guy was so much better

The host was fine. It's Cassie Campbell and Kevin Bieksa who are terrible.

Bieksa is extremely unfunny and his forced banter made me mute immediately.

Cassie Campbell just drones on and on and on. It's like if Greg Millen was given a spot on the panel.

Obviously what people like and dislike is subjective, but in broad strokes, SNET's just seems....unnatural at times. As individuals they're all talented, but they struggle to find natural chemistry when combining people on air. It doesn't help they seem to shake things up all the time and not let panels/shows find a rhythm. Whether you like it or not, the TSN shows and panels just flow better. It feels like a real conversation. SNET feels like they've rehearsed a bit ahead of time.

Skipped Toronto radio for a while before finally tuning into Overdrive today. O-Dog took a step. He's easily the smartest and most measured guy on the panel now.

I'd be interested in seeing him get his own show.

Oh yay, HNIC is back. That means a pre-game show consisting of 5 minutes talking about the actual game ... followed by 25 minutes of Hometown Hockey, Good Deeds Cup, Hometown Heroes, Good Deed Heroes, Hometown Deeds, Good Cup Hockey and anything else that only the 14 people that live in those hometowns actually care about.
