Virtually no reason to watch Sportsnets hockey coverage, other than the game being on.

Everyone will be tuned in to TSN's deadline and free agency shows.

In a way, you gotta give credits to Dangle for actually having a career pretty much for being a fan on social media. There are enough sports journalists that graduate every year and paying their dues and still won’t even have a sniff of any major network coverage.

I don't think it's a knock on Dangle. He's done well for himself.

But if Rogers is calling him their insider, well, that's a shame!

For all the sports and media in this city it's stunning at the lack of talent. Not just, real talented sportscasters, personalities, hosts, etc. but just hitting the bar of not be incredibly annoying.

Hard to make a good living in Canada at sports. Even the big boys don't pay nearly what you would get even in a medium sized market in the US.

Yeah, love or hate his style, at least he has put in the time and effort to get to where he is now. As much as calling him an “insider” is a pathetic look for Rogers.

Now, giving a radio show to a guy seen in a crowd wearing blue face paint with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth — if I were an aspiring journalist in school or someone working the overnight shift as an intern paying their dues to work their way up, I’d be pissed.

I am not dissing him bc I think he must be doing something right bc he is one of the few that made it.

But calling him an insider is not a good look on Sportsnet.

I agree. But makes you wonder now that Johnston has jumped ship, if they are grooming him to grow into and become one of the more reputable ones in a few years. He certainly has the following, which is a decent first step.

I think Dangle could be great in a Homer show similar to Leafs lunch used to be.
Or be someone who interview players while having a good time.

I agree with you 100%. My quesrion would be, exactly what is a good look now on Sportsnet.
I think Sportsnet needs to determine what they need or want to do.
For example, do they want to continue the more professional approach like they had been doing but without CJ and only having Friedman as a more creditable voice while having Maclean and others do the show.
Or they start leaning more on Bieska, who I think is quite entertaining and he doesn’t seem to have a bias analysis.
I really think what TNT do and their success or failure might just determine the direction of NHL boardcast.

Personally I really like the vibe with NBA on TNT, how they could get all those great former players together and just let them be themselves. Now can Hockey players do that? Bc the culture for both sports are very different. Beside Loungo and Subban, I really can’t think of a lot of players that got the personalities like NBA players but Bieska showed it might have more to do with the general hockey culture than players being robots.
We shall see.

Looks like TSN and SportsNet basically swapped Johnston and Seravelli.

Really I thought Seravalli is at a new company now.

Frank Seravalli joins DailyFaceoff.com as President of Hockey Content, where he'll assemble the hockey world's newest expansion team. Daily Faceoff has been the leader in offering the latest line combinations, starting goalies and daily fantasy and gambling information.

He is. But he is also doing bits for SportsNet, after leaving his gig with TSN. So while not his primary job, I'm sure he has some agreement/contract to appear on SportsNet every so often.

Real opportunity to build a great leaf lunch, I’d like to see MacArthur hosting with Mike Johnson and Kristen Shilton both on regularly with large contributions from CJ. Completely banish Poulin and Miller and fire Button into the sun.

Poulin is fine , no other person has been at all the hockey positions that he has been in. He’s knowledgeable.
