There probably should have been a separate thread for the news about Hughson.

I'm so happy. Wow I hated hearing him do play by play for my Leafs.

I think you just hit on something, for me anyways, I liked him calling games... just not Leafs games. The backhanded and sarcastic comments just got too much to handle for me.

Noodles is seriously messed up in the head. I haven’t listened it to overdrive all summer, tuned into the Mike Johnson segment last night and noodles is going on about “some jack@ss” who suggested Jake Muzzin for team Canada and that there are other players outside of Toronto. I don’t even know who the guy is arguing with. Funny hearing O ask if it was Joe from the bridge.

noodles makes up things that and then attributes them to "leafs fans" so he can dribble more crap about how bad toronto market is. He is a joke and i cant listen to overdrive with him on. In his mind he is the voice of reason to 2 leafs homers in reality Odog and especially hayes arent really homers and rip on the leafs all the time, noodles is a rest of canada homer which stupid on a local toronto broadcast. He has zero knowledge of anything outside of hockey and even then outside of goal tending his opinions aren't what you'd consider must listen. Noodles out for MJ permanently i might tune in again

I think that might also has to do with TSN, Sportsnet and CBC.
Would be interesting to see how it plays out in the US with the new network deal.

Yeah, it's unfortunate the Leafs organization/MLSE had any creative control over the series. Anything they thought would make a player/staff look bad they could cut.

Even worse though if the players, agents, families, therapists and their fashion consultants did too. Any sense of objectivity and true insight gets erased pretty quickly.

I don't think it's a lack of talent. I think it's about what the networks think sells these days. Thoughtful analysis, interesting discussion - boring! Be loud, be controversial, pound on those hot takes. Make sure to read as many random tweets from viewers/listeners as possible. That's what they think sells.
