Do either TSN or Sportsnet have much in the way of good radio talent? It's literally just OverDrive and Micallef who come to mind as actually talented and non-grating to listen to.

At one time I enjoyed Overdrive but I can't stand listening to those guys any longer. Especially O dog. Too many reasons to list why that show is grating...

I've also stopped listening to that show. (the golf talk was too much) Actually, I stopped listening to all sports radio. It's been great! Music and audio books in the car. Mind you, I will probably get hooked back in once games start, but I don't think I'm ever going to follow AM radio like I used to.

Yup! Spotify and HFboards for my NHL updates.

the greatest step anyone can make as a sports fan.

sports radio just makes you a dumber and less informed fan.

their job is not to educate, only to get you upset.
That is the whole point of the mainstream media in general. Make you dumber and less informed. Shut off the TV and put away the phones.

Mike Johnson, O’Neil and Hayes talking about the possibility (jokingly) of Muzzin being on team Canada.

Every time this thread gets bumped I'm reminded how much I miss Bob McCown on the radio. (I know he has his podcast). Almost everyone else tries too hard to be funny or to be over-the-top and outrageous, almost always failing. Give me discussion with substance, not just hot takes. I like that he looked at business, management, other aspects of sport, not just endless discussion about who should be the 6th defenceman on the roster, or complete homer discussion like the one I heard in the last day or two about the Jays winning the AL East. When I want that, I read this forum!

Well said all around.

McCown's removal off the air was the final nail in the coffin of Toronto sports radio, which is completely amateurish and unlistenable to now.

Noodles is seriously messed up in the head. I haven’t listened it to overdrive all summer, tuned into the Mike Johnson segment last night and noodles is going on about “some jack@ss” who suggested Jake Muzzin for team Canada and that there are other players outside of Toronto. I don’t even know who the guy is arguing with. Funny hearing O ask if it was Joe from the bridge.

Noodles is a f***ing joke.

It's pathetic that they still have him on a Toronto based show.

His anti-leaf foil routine might be more entertaining if he brought something else to the table as well, but he doesn't. He's not funny, he doesn't know many sports, he doesn't bring any different hockey insight the O-dog doesn't already cover, he doesn't ask many questions, he's kind of useless, which maybe is why they keep him, they don't want three super talkative, personalities, they need one who is a bit of a backdrop.

I'm sure they could find someone better, maybe that covers a slightly different demographic.

I for one liked Twitter as a source to learn hockey from guys who just post charts all day long and have 300 followers.

I mean why listen to a channel that has a plethora of ex players and managers giving insight about the game?

Unique insight of a goalie, was in the front office, watches more hockey than anyone in the media in the market. But he criticizes the Leafs, so people on here get triggered. I know the feeling.

I don't think people are necessarily 'triggered' by anti-Leaf rhetoric. People get annoyed when someone lacks the ability to be impartial.

That goes both ways. The people that are overly positive about the team are equally annoying.

...and he just downright sounds like an every day douche.

I don't get why Overdrive gets so much hate. They are easily the best show on radio in the city. It's not even close. Bob McCown sucked ass. He was bland and boring. Only good thing about him was he was probably the best at interviewing, he asked the hard questions and wasn't afraid to do so. But Overdrive is funny, they bring good bits. Maybe if they replaced Noodles with someone else they could really elevate, but I'm not sure what more you can ask for a show. Maybe tone down the golf talk a bit. But the show is a sports show, they aren't a leafs dominated show anymore like when they used to be on at lunch.

Seems like Noodles get triggered very easily and then will quickly blame some jacka$$ like he always says.

He needs to stop taking things like they’re attacking him or something.

Example if Noodles saw this he would take it personal and call me some keyboard warrior jacka$$ online. I’m not attacking you just ignore it. You know you’re in a Toronto market that’s how things are.

I can understand why some people wouldn’t like it. Myself I only really like 2/3 of the hosts (take a wild guess who the black sheep of the group is imo). If you don’t find them funny or find their constant golf talk irritating I can see how someone wouldn’t care for the show. Also losing Ferraro as a daily call in really hurts the shows entertainment and informative value.

Still I find them funny and entertaining. Noodles pissing off would raise the value 100%. I don’t care if he dislikes the Leafs but my God does he drag down every conversation when he lets his bias through, which happens far too often and is pretty unprofessional at this point.

I don't usually find them very funny and I don't care for golf, so right there you can see why I'm not spending much time listening to them! Even though they've expanded their horizons to other sports, it still feels like a hockey first show where they talk about other sports because they have to, not because they are interested or have knowledge about them. To be fair, this applies to some hosts more than others and you can probably work out which ones.

I wouldn't call their show horrible like some of the muck you can find on the Fan right now, but it just doesn't do enough to keep me interested.
