Count me in as never having been a fan of Landsberg.
Does anyone know where he’s going? Or if he simply retired?
Why Michael Landsberg is leaving TSN after almost 40 years on the airwaves - The Athletic

After joining TSN as it launched in 1984, he is stepping away to pursue new opportunities. He wants to create an animated series that educates viewers about mental health. He wants to continue working with the charity he founded, SickNotWeak, and delivering public speeches.

Leaving TSN does not mean he is retiring.

“Oh god no, definitely not,” he said. “What is it? It’s a reload.”

Landsberg said he had begun to discuss his departure with his wife, Karen, over the last year or two. He had been a broadcaster for most of his adult life, and he felt there was more he wanted to accomplish. It moved into more official discussions earlier this year.

He said he had a conversation with Stewart Johnston, the long-time TSN executive who is now senior vice-president of sales and sports at Bell Media.

“He was super,” said Landsberg. “He said, ‘Look, you want to keep working? How do you want to handle this?’”

Landsberg said he opted for a quiet farewell. He had been off the air for several weeks, using some of his vacation time, before the press release was issued on Friday morning. (It was the Friday of a long weekend, which is traditionally prime time to hide news from a public heading away on vacation.)

It’s not clear what drove the timing, and Landsberg declined to outline the timeline specifically, but he was at peace with the departure.

“I needed to kick myself in the ass,” he said. “If you’re waiting for a signal that this is the right time, it’s never going to come, unless you’re dropping dead. And then you realize, ‘OK, well maybe this signal was a little bit too profound.’”

Hayes was talking about the Western Canadian cities and said 'out west'.

Miller went on a tangent about how it's not okay to say 'out west' because it makes it seem like the west people are 'out' and the east people are 'in'.

It got somewhat uncomfortable.

It’s literally a geographical designation, how in the hell is it anything to get bent out of shape about? Do people in British Columbia or Alberta not say "Out East?"

Par for course I suppose, never underestimate a Western Canadians ability to turn a comment from a Torontonian into this massive slight.

Why does it not surprise me that something so trivial and easy to understand was overblown and taken way out of context like practically everything else in today's flakey society.

Wow. Gord is even more insufferable than I thought. TSN really has to find someone at least somewhat likeable to fill in. Gord’s misery and chin is ratings suicide.

Do we ban "Back East" as well?

I am never offended when someone says "out East". What I'm not comfortable with is Western Canada's contempt for Eastern Canada.

Who even talks like that anymore? I think people said that in the 80's.

Is he leaving Sportsnet altogether or just for writing purposes?

That idiot Dave Poulin writes for the Toronto Star too but I believe he still does TSN broadcasts.

Next thing you know "out back" and "out front" will be offensive. Jeez. Get a life Gord.

Haven't we as a society cancelled enough things already? Soon we will all be mutes because every word we say will be deemed offensive to someone.

So the Overdrive crew is back together after weeks of fill-ins (and a LOT of Feschuk ... way too much Feschuk), and what is the first thing they talk about after a very active Summer, from the Jays hot play to the Leafs' off-season to the Olympics ... You got it: Golf.

Specifically, Hayes' golf game.

Did he switch to left handed yet?
