It has been stale for over while now I agree.
Yes I agree. I do like to focus on subjects that have the potential to increase attendance. If more enthusiasm can be created in the Ottawa valley that results in a bump in attendance, it's good stuff. I'd like to see the invasive blue-shirt species reduced in our barn too.

Part of how awesome it was was the reaction it created

Couldn’t go last night. Didn’t sell to leafs fans for a profit tho. Gave to Sens fans. Want a medal for this.

Man. Seeing Ottawa people cheer for other teams. Turns me into Adolf

The history of hockey education is extremely lucking in this region. Toronto is not Mecca of hockey, Renfrew is. Just a short drive east from Kanata. Hockey was invented here, rules were places, first teams, first leagues and the NHL. You have to be extremely proud to live in Ottawa if you love hockey, where the hockey history all started. Especially when the blue shorts originated as well in the Ottawa valley and were sold to Hogtown as a franchise for 2k fee. Ottawa Senators is the second oldest professional team in North America, first is Cincinnati Reds.

Next time Greig gets this chance against the Laughs with a few seconds left, I cant decide if I want him to:

  • place the puck every so gently in the crease, just outside the goal line so as not to offend the hockey universe by scoring, or ...
  • pushing the puck 'just' across the goal line - like a couple of mm, so as to force a review to see if the puck crossed the line.

The Leafs will do anything to distract from their own poor play and the Toronto media will take the bait hook line and sinker!

He should fake a slapshot and miss, allowing it to trickle across the line.

You could see Giroux's gears were turning in his head as he was asked that question. He took his time to respond calmly, and down played it knowing the homer Sportsnet panel would be ready to pounce if he dissed Reilly and the Leafs in any way in his answer, so he stayed clear of it. Great veteran move and poise shown by Giroux in a post game interview.
Giroux handled it best he could, with class, very professional and controlled. You could tell he was biting his tongue for sure. Kudos to him! Just once, I really wish a non-Leaf player would call these homers out with a response along the lines of "You do realize that there were two Canadian teams playing tonight, right, that the Leafs are not the only team in the league?" Sure, it would be snarky but it would be legendary and would put those damned SN Leaf homers in their place for a change.

I noticed that he tried to call out the panel.
Panel: What did you think of the play.
G: Which part?

I'll bet he knew which way the wind was blowing on the panel and just wanted to hear them say they were all super concerned about the nature of the goal.

They didn't clarify, and he didn't bite on going over the top and creating more controversy.

How is his not an automatic in parson

or if unavailable, maybe a Rabbi.

I hope Sens marketing does something with this.

Before the first Sens vs Leafs game next year I'd like to see commercials featuring Greig taking slappers at an empty net from the hash marks and a coach screaming "again!" at him as he repeats the exercise.

I would like this along with a cutscene of the Bilbo Baggins jumpscare when he sees Frodo put the ring away, but Bilbo is wearing a #44 Leafs jersey.

The whole framing of the narrative around the "classlessness" of both sides feels like a red herring re Reily's temper tantrum -- about as relevant as both sides were wearing skates. Of course Ridley was being a troll. But there's a reason one party will be suspended in this situation and one will not.

Does anyone have the video showing the fans after the incident.

In particular, Leafs fan to our left and his Sens fan friend beside him on our right.

Leafs fan is in mid heart attack, pointing at the ice and waiving his hands everywhere. Turns to his friend in the Sens hat and the friend puts on a crap eating grin and just looks away.

Possibly the worst take yet. Get bent Biron. Immediately launches in to, "you can see he went for the shoulder and Greig put his arm up"

followed by...

"But this is just a big no no" about Greig's slapshot.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills watching this shit. Do you mouthwash after you gargle on their balls Biron? Jesus H Christ, this is a former player, that didn't even play for the Leafs. Is this shit literally written in to their contracts or something? Just beyond awful for a take on this. Shameful really.

A DELIBERATE CROSS CHECK TO THE HEAD THAT CONNECTED, AFTER THE GAME WAS OVER, IS THE ONLY THING THEY SHOULD BE TALKING ABOUT.

Guys can dance around like they're Theo Fleury scoring the winner, but a clapper in to an empty netter broke the code? Go cover for Hockey Canada a little more you blokes.
