Let’s see how the third period shakes out. Missing the middle pair is a big problem on the road. But man are Dermott, Liljegren and Sandin ever looking disappointing in their little test tonight. The Swedish kids are overwhelmed physically and playing their soft touch little game under heavy forecheck. And Dermott is always too shaky and can’t seal up a wall or provide a clean stop. So much chaos in his game.

Very accurate assessment! To be fair, I don't expect our bottom pairing to do anything other than survive... they aren't really even doing that lol.
Might need a game saver or two from Jackie boy and a record-setting snipe from Matty to bring this one home!

I agree. Unless leafs get 1st in their division they will get a very tough matchup in the 1st rd no matter how you slice it.
"Easy" matchup did them no good last year so its better to rest campbell more

I was thinking with a few minutes left to just get to the intermission with the lead.. and then that turnover.. hate late period goals against, momentum is now with the rangers especially after that rather uneventful power play

They won't figure it out, it's why many have wanted a splash to address it. The hope is that Ritchie will bring it (he does hit), along with Simmonds, Clifford, Muzzin.
I thought Bennett would have been perfect here, some grit in his game, surely there are physical D Men to be found at the deadline. Someone to bring some swagger.
Regardless, this team needs to find it somehow. It is why I am not giving up on Ritchie or others who don't always score. It also would help if they could have fans in their own arena...

I don't care. We finish first we get like Boston or Pittsburgh. I would rather have our goalie not dead by the time we get there. There isn't going to be an easy 1st round. Not a possibility.

Yea watching with my brother and thought Liljegren for sure was getting that puck out. He doesn’t and 10 seconds later puck goes five hole on Campbell and it’s tie game.
100% agree about the dzone turnovers, without those, this is a 3-1 game

Yep. Seal the wall. Eat the puck. Wait for reinforcements to arrive. Trying to spin out of areas, poke the puck free for an area pass under a heavy forecheck, skating and taking too long to move the puck. It’s unacceptable.

He’s so low for some reason, I get that he wants to cover the bottom part of the net, but he literally gave 1/3 of the top half, he made it impossible for himself to save that even when he knew no pass was coming. The play started with a bad turnover by dermott, but Sandin was able to hold reeves off until Campbell tracked the puck but he still got beat.
