guys. Guys. GUYS!

Doughty is pretty much never going to win the Norris trophy, like ever. Only way it happens is if everything east of the Mississippi is swallowed by the Atlantic ocean.

I maintain that Doughty has to have another 55+ point season for it to be realistic.

For that to happen, the Kings need a top Five PP, with Drew scoring on it.

Ehh Never ? haha

Jeez Weber doesn't have one....That is almost criminal.

Richards was noticeable early on the powerplay. He had about 3 nifty passes that the recipient didn't capitalize on; he also made a nice defensive effort on that sure-goal(say what you want, but not every player would even be in that position to make that play to prevent the goal) but he's still off. He had what looked to be a 3 on 1, decided to wind it up and not even get a shot on goal; also had a few bad turnovers. I'm hoping he leans towards his positives (like early in the game) and makes better plays at his blueline rather than the lazy breakouts as the season goes forward with two top 6 forwards out with injuries.

FYI--if you're going to quote a tweet, just need to put [ tweet ] tweetcode [ /tweet ] with no spaces of course.

Learned that by creeping Ron's posts ;)

Ha ha, I cannot tell a lie, got it from someone else on the board...can't remember who, it was about a month ago.

I remember asking about that feature some time ago and it wasn't in the BB code. It's a hidden feature, apparently. Some smart person here figured it out before I did. :)

Quite a friggin few people have been trying to figure it out so yay!

50 points is nice...

And just like that Kopitar is back to an even rating meanwhile the ppg continues to climb. he's been playing like the monster we know he is for a good while now.

At home: 24GP, 8G, 21A, 29Pts, +10, 1st on the team in scoring
On the road: 16GP, 2G, 3A, 5Pts, -10, 13th on the team in scoring

10 points in his first 16 home games, and 19 in the last 8, going back to the St.Louis game where he put up 5 points.

If Kopitar, and Carter, can start producing goals and points on the road again, that would go a long way toward improving their road record.

The Kings are now 4-0 at home against Atlantic division teams. Scored 11 times, including 2 empty net goals, with only 2 goals against. 3 shutouts. They haven't played Montreal, Tampa Bay, or Detroit yet though.

I just can't watch Jeff Schultz anymore. How can Derek Forbort be any worst than this guy? His foot speed is so ****ing bad, the guy is out of position every play.

100 percent without a doubt Schultz will contribute to the playing in our own end! He consistently loses races to loose pucks, and the cycle down low begins, and he then loses foot races back to the front of the net for D coverage and it's in the net!

I will say once he has the puck, he has poise and his passing skills are very good. But if paired with the wrong D man, Schultz is going to be looking for help when it comes to puck possession. In steps our centers this year, who in many ways have had to function as a third down low D way more than should be. Other good teams have speed and puck movers so the forwards are allowed to release up the ice!! Blackhawks especially.

This is what I wrote on Dec 19 when he was called up. I watch the Manchester games. Many people, not all, doubted what I was trying to say. After reading several posts, I think some people are starting to see what I was always seeing. He played the same way in Manchester.

Rob Blake on Forbort even before the season started, and he's been playing even better this year.

“He uses his reach, he’s very good with his reach,†Blake said. “He has a good stick—it’s always on the ice and in the passing lanes. He can deter plays because he’s a bigger guy and he’s in the right spot.â€

“He’s very sound in his positioning,†Blake added. “He’s a bigger guy, he skates well and he uses his stick real well. The good thing with him is that, when you watch him, you see that he recovers and gets into position so well.â€

A factor in Forbort being solid positionally is his skating ability.

“He’s a big, lanky guy,†Blake indicated. “He doesn’t look like he’s skating real hard, but he always seems to be in the right spot.â€

Now contrast those thoughts with what you see in Schultz!

Nice to see Martin Jones is back on track with a solid shutout. He was awful in his last two outings.

Game was too late for me (Eastern time...) but watching the highlights and reading the thread this morning gave me a sense of what went on.

Tough D, solid forechecking, checking and hitting, quality shots. Getting back to LAK hockey.

This has to keep on.

Quick needs a rest for another game or two.

I had to go to bed after the first period but it sounds like exactly the type of game the Kings needed. Maybe now that they have so many injuries it will wake them up.

Jones should get his second start in a row. Toronto didn't teally have many good chances, although the game could have changed in a heartbeat if they scored. The Kings played well as far as being pretty good defensively. I'd say the Kings played a smart game and controlle them.

Jones was solid and confident, 7 Shutouts in 29 starts, was impressive and I hope he gets the nod on Wens, he's earned it.
The team played better in their own end, less giveaways, that's a positive but I felt the LEafs were the better team thru the 2nd and 3rd, kept the Kings ops down and really didn't give up many good scoring chances. But 2 pts was earned and needed.

Since Carlyle got fired, they Leafs have cut the SOG' down from averaging 40 to 20 in the last several games. That has been their glaring weakness the last couple of years, too may SOG's. No goalie should have to face over 38 Shots as an average. So the adjustment the interim coach made to the system is already working for them. That's a positive step for them and it takes time to adjust to a new system. JVR said post game that HOrachek is a much calmer presence with an easy going manner that has had a very positive effect on the team . With the right players moved out and a new coach moved in over the summer, they should move in the right direction next year.

James van Riemsdyk described Horachek as a more of an easygoing personality behind the bench as compared to the often fiery and tightly wound Carlyle.

“More of a calmness back there,” van Riemsdyk said. “We know what we need to do and he’s great about teaching and showing guys the right way to do things and, when we make mistakes, showing it in a way that is constructive and I think guys are responding well to that.”

Saw most of the 1st period before dinner and sacking out, had to go to bed, but liked the energy LA played with. Jones needs a few more starts. I felt like our D is not as stifling as it should be but against a better team, this may have gone to a shoot out,

Carlyle couldn't seem to get the message through!! They became more and more a team just out of control, and terribly inconsistent!!! When they were on offensively they were hard to handle for most teams!! The problem was they couldn't play much team defense, thus tons of shots, roller coaster games, and eventually the whole wild style runs out of gas, and they start losing! I'm just glad the Kings didn't catch them on one of their wild nights, which in the future may be less. Toronto, with new coach and new style to a lot of the players, wasn't going to beat the Kings in a low shots, controlled, game!

DIsagree. It was 1-0 until the final minute and if not for Jones, Leafs would have won. The Leafs tested him, and Bernier faced little quality shots or constant pressure. The Leafs were the better team thru the final 2, had more zone time and put pressure on and Jones got them a well earned W.

I was pleased to see the team respond so vividly to Sutter's complaint after the last game that some of the Kings key players "weren't in the checking mood". They were certainly in the mood last night.

You go to bed at 8 p.m.? Early shift at work?
