Yeh an isolated incident where 2 random sentences were said to McDavid's back as he walks away from some kids is totally the same as the entire Leafs market turning on Marner AND his Dad for years now. Oh and the vitriol towards Marner get's supported by Toronto Sports Media too.

I think maybe Oilers fans turned on him then, but not the Leafs market.

In fact, Marner's jersey sales are still among the top despite 'the market turning on him'. It doesn't make sense.

Oh okay so Leafs fans and media weren't attacking his game and character to take less during that whole fiasco. And Marner isn't always included in the TRADE THE CORE rants all the time. Everyone just imagined this.

I'd like to see a source on your Marner jersey sales too.

The Oilers media was attacking McDavid for being okay with the Evander Kane signing. Remember when McDavid had to say we don't care what people think just last season?

Remember when the Oilers media attacked Draisaitl last season for being pissy?

Is the Oilers market turning on McDavid/Draisaitl?

When you go to NHL.com, and go to top-sellers in the Leafs jersey section - it's literally Matthews and Marner.

No they weren't. If they were it would have been a big deal on HFOil. And even if it did happen, the Oilers fans would always support a decision that McDavid supports, and we have. We love having Kane around. Great pick up.

That's your source? The only thing you can gleen from that NHL shop website is that Matthews sells Number 1 and Marner sells #2. That could be a Million Sales vs. 10K for all we know. Matthews sweater is usually number 1/2 league wide due to Leafs Propaganda but Marner's is never even in the Top 15.

At this point the team probably should try and make a big trade to wake players up . Last season at least they had good underlying numbers when they lost. This year they don't. The play like shit . Probably need a massive kick in the behind.

It doesn't matter what the difference is. Marner's jersey is the second best selling on the Leafs. Hard to argue the fans turning on him despite buying his jersey more often than anyone named Matthews.

Obviously Matthews sells more, he's the reigning Hart/Lindsey/Rocket winner. Now find me a source that Marner's jersey isn't the second best selling jersey on the Leafs?

You can argue the notion that the Leafs fans turned on Marner all you want, his jersey still sells.

People were upset with McDavid and Drai when their contracts were signed too, doesn't mean the market turned on them.

It does when you are using it as "evidence" that Leafs fans didn't turn on Marner. Which anyone with 2 eyes and 2 ears know they did during his Contract Negotiations. They still hold resentment till this day regarding Marner's contract and his overall play on the Ice. You guys are currently calling the Coach soft for not scratching him more in tonight's game.

A few fans on here doesn't mean the market turned on him. People were upset with Nylander/Marner/Matthews contracts - does that mean the market turned on the Leafs?

People were 100% upset at Drai, go look at the thread. Just because he lived up to the contract doesn't change the fact it was an overpayment at the time.

You're arguing the market turned on a player.. but his jersey still sells. How does that make sense to anyone but you?
