5 pps tonight so far.

Mitch by far the most touches, and the only guy with space to shoot....but won't shoot. Tavares and Willy have barely touched the puck.

The few times he gets a pass through the shooters have no real time to shoot, with the defense and goalie ready and waiting.

Also messed up a couple zone entries.

Too bad he didn't get to benefit from our lucky hot PP.

1ST PP is less predictable without Marner on it. We have better options with the puck than him, and when he is on PP1 they don't get that puck time.

Don't care about his ego, he needs to eat this one for the betterment of the team; provided the coaches wise up to thise massive secret that is clear as day.

Just rust. They should be fine, but it's funny PP1 has it's worst game in a while in Marner's game back. Easily the worst player on the PP today. He just takes away options on his own with his inability to shoot, and confusion on what to do. The other more dangerous guys barely touch the puck.

Marner should be tried on the second PP unit.. or place him to be the passer behind the net. He gets less touches but he can be sneaky passing it to the players on the slots who will actually shoot it.

Funny. I thought Nylanders pass to the netherplayer to be the worst thing I saw.

2:52sh Leaf pp and Marner gets a pass and again waits too long and when he finally decides the shoot the goalie is in position literally waiting for him to shoot short side.

I would have put him on pp2 in his return . Dont mess with flow. When the flow stops. Put him back again but from behind net.

He's making 11 million on a 68 point pace. The coach/gm need him to produce as much as they need a more productive pp (at this point).

You’re joking right?

Honestly I am fine with the unit how it is - but the team really needs to have adjustments in game and between powerplays.

Ottawa knew what the Leafs were attempting . They backed off Marner and overcomitted on taking away the seam pass to Matthews, while also sticking tight to Nylander and Tavares. Marner only then had the choice for a low percentage pass, to restart the pressure with a pass back to 44, or shoot it. With having 0 powerplay goals in nearly 100 straight games, that means everything Marner had a choice to do was low percentage. This was repeated for 5 straight powerplays.

Why not once they see how they cover Marner's passes - rotate him and Nylander.
Make the powerplay fluid.

Marner should lead the 2nd PP unit, but given his contract and status on the team, it won't happen. If they're going to insist PP1 then at least put him closer to goal, he is of zero threat from the perimeter and clearly lacking confidence in his shot.

PP2 looked much better. There's no go-to guy, moved the puck fluidly and created chaos.
