Totally fair. I just wish more could actually admit when things aren't going well g

funny thing is just look at the last few pages of this thread and you see l'il ole zeke criticizing the PP and arguing with the people defending it.

still weird that you'd get upset about our PP now playing insanely well.

This is the one thing I could never figure out how/why they didn't do sooner. For almost a few years there it seemed like they stood in the same spot and moved the puck slowly and predictably.

A lot of it is just confidence and mindset.

Heck last night on one of the PPs the leafs won the draw got it back to Mo and he went across the blueline to Mitch who was being left wide open on the right point....same thing that happens all the time.....except when before Mitch would kind of just hold it and fake it and try to look for pass openings, he immediately charged right ahead into the open space and forced a very good save from a shot from right in the slot....he didn't score but i'm pretty sure we ended up with a goal off the broken play and lost coverages that ensued from that rebound.

This team has to sooner or later win a playoff series or all this bragging about how good our players are will look pretty dumb. Oh wait, it already does.
No joy huh! Just living in the past wondering where it all went wrong? I feel for you bro I really do, but like Stephen Stills once said "don't let the past remind us of what we are right now!"

Whatever has occurred in the past will not affect any outcomes in the future.

Awww look at zeke all puffy. It's great the PP is doing so well but it doesn't change the fact 16 didn't score for 100 games and that it was sub-par and non-existent in the playoffs

You're absolutely right you cannot change the past, a past which we're all aware of, why let it drag down your deal?

When you haven't seen an old friend from years back, and you run into them do you start out by telling them all the bad stuff that happened to you in the intervening time, or do you tell them about your current life and plans going forward?

Maybe just Kadri, because all the rest of the big dogs in the league seemed to have cooled off. Players like Krieder, Draisatl, McJeebuzz.

Kadri right now ranks with the leagues top centres.

Wow, I didn't realize Kadri's been that good recently. All I knew was that he's still right up there in the scoring race, what a mind blowing season he's having. We should have some sort of pool trying to predict his next contract, now there's a complicated puzzle!

This "no joy" line got old a long time ago. I enjoy most games, I enjoy the ones where we play well or we win more and the ones where we play well AND win even more still. But most of all, I enjoy it when we win in the playoffs, nothing compares to that and that's what I want more of.

Also living completely in the present, but at times thinking about the past, and also the future. I think that's completely normal but thanks for your concern.

Jeebuzz man can't you see, bad stuff happened in the past and what's more important than that?

And we haven't played the upcoming playoffs, and those that the Leafs did play are in the past and over and done with. Hopefully the players that experienced those past playoffs and that are still here learned something from them and use the pain and anguish to motivate them to a higher level of performance, which hopefully translates into victory.

I sure hope so. I've actually been hoping that for a few years now but so far, I've been disappointed. Is this one of those cases where I can count on the law of averages helping me out? ;)

Nope. I just don't pretend this is one of the best team's in the league when time after time they fail when it matters most. I also don't make excuses for those failures

No one can excuse the past, change the past nor pretend it didn't happen, but what the past cannot do and I cannot stress this enough is effect the present nor future outcomes. I really don't understand why people seemingly aren't intellectually able to make that distinction

“Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.”
Winston Churchill

Lessons from the past may not avert potential failure in the present or future, but they may provide insights into the present or future.

What are those insights?

1) Gotta start games on time
2) Can't take opponents lightly or for granted
3) Have to focus for 60 minutes
4) Special teams have to produce
5) Be able to adjust within games
