How can Nylander be on the wrong side of 30 when he is exactly 30? Do you not understand what "wrong side of" actually means?
It means he’s passed his 30th his birthday. If he was on the right side of it he’d be 29. I’m not gonna argue semantics when the general point still stands.

This team shouldn’t be in win now mode. This situation is like the sharks when they extended Karlsson for 8 years even though the writing was clearly on the wall. Matthews is the most broken down 28 year old in hockey history, Nylander is on the wrong side of 30, Tavares is 35, they still don’t really have a goaltender and the rest of the team is just a weird assortment of aging castoffs.
30 years old is the wrong side of 30?

Then wtf is the good side of 30?

Are there any statistics on what percentage of Raddysh's points were directly influenced by Kucherov? I'm referring to Kucherov's goals or assists.

Good point. But this will be the first season where Radish is deployed as a #1D. Will be interesting to see how he does. Will likely be playing 25+ minutes a night. He will be leaned on much more heavily in Toronto than he was in TB.

If Rielly is out the door at 7.5M per then Radish at 8.5M per is an upgrade for Toronto. But 8 years is way too long for an unproven D who is already 30 years old.
8 years is too long for sure buddy. I don’t think you’ll see any leafs fans saying it’s not a couple years too long. But it saves some AAV, and his cap hit won’t be devastating in those later years, so may as well gamble in my opinion!

Who will he play with in Toronto? He won’t have a partner nearly as good as Moser
OEL and McCabe have been very good for us. You're asking the question because you know the opposite to be true while making the claim neither is nearly as good as Moser? Or are you asking because you don't know and presume no one on the club is nearly as good as Moser?

I mean hes still an NHL caliber D who can play 17-18 Mins.
With the new coach that Rielly previously put up his best offense under and him being strictly 2nd pair it wouldnt be the end of the world to give him another look. Id still move him in a decent deal preferably but I dont hate the idea of one more season.

AHL is not NHL ...why dont you go back to JR's and bantam
he is not a journeyman, even with going to the leafs ...if he bounces to 3-4 more teams then he'd be a journeyman.

Eric Haula is a journeyman if you want an accurate player example playing for 8 teams over 14 seasons.

Comparing the AHL to Bantam is embarrassing.. AHL is a professional league of grown men, not teenagers.

Raddysh rode buses for over 5 years on minor league deals, completely undrafted, getting passed around by Chicago and the Rangers before finally sticking in the NHL at 28. That is the literal definition of a journeyman.

Congrats on figuring out Erik Haula is a journeyman too, but getting traded as an established millionaire is easy.. Raddysh had to claw through three different pro organizations just to survive, he's more of a journeyman to me than Haula

Would be an accurate comment for a complete bottom feeder with a long dark rebuild like the Canucks, not so applicable to a team like the Leafs who are still a contender after one off year.
It’s an accurate comment for any bottom five team. The only thing the Leafs will be contending for is to see if they can move up to playoff bubble team status. Their long dark rebuild will commence in a couple of years once they have their own first round pick again.

Still don't understand how this deal is risky. No one has explained it to me in a way that makes sense.

Got him for nothing but cap space. Next year the deal at the same % of cap is worth 6.5AAV. The year after that, it will be around 5aav and go down from there.

They are not even close to the salary cap and have no major contracts due for 2 years.
Have they released if he got any trade protection or signing bonus money yet?
