Couple desperate teams in desperate situations checking out the repo auction. Pettersson badly needs a change of scenery but I'm very skeptical he'll be able to bounce back to being a premier center in this leg. Doesn't have it mentally and hasn't put in the work physically.

Blues have 3 1st round picks in the 1st round
They could easily make this deal if they think he will be at worst a 2c for them.

didnt he lead all forwards in blocked shots ?

blues can make this work in a variety of ways if theres mutual interest

If EP40 was worth anything in this market he would have been traded already. There are so many teams looking for a top 6 center but I think EP40 just comes with major red flags combined with the Canucks unwilling to retain any amount on him just kills any deal if there are any to begin with.
Not if you are the Canucks, and wanted to hit a home run and have him bounce back a bit first. The roster that guy had to play with and the amount of defensive play he had to mange where artificial anchors that the stat watchers are ignoring. Give him a competent set of wingers and watch him products 80 points a season. The issue has been that either the Canucks loaded up tj millers line or they had no centers and he was the most defensive lily responsible. That is in part (could be significant) his mental make up and his start of the year fitness, but the performance from him is also tangibly tied to his usage.

the context is the the last 2 seasons of play, His injuries and play will the factored in

YOU AND OTHER CANUCK FANS can ignore the last two seasons but othet teams wil not

I realize that canuck fans will go 3 to 5 years in the back.

But the last 2 years, full play is the context of who he is now not 5 years ago and that hurts your argument.. Which I get as it hurt your value o f said player. His performance over the last two years are not what if but actual tractable stat

SOME canuck fans are expecting more for him than McDavid(go read any of his thread)

the context I am talking about is the last 2 physical year--which hurts his value
Of course they have, but the terrible team he was on is part of that too, anyone who ignores that as part of the context is literrally f***ing stupid.

I don't ignore the last two seasons I am not even a fan of the player, do you pay attention at all?

Fans can go back even last year and see he was playing better but yah sure bud......

THE LAST TWO YEARS MATTERS CAN YOU READ? CONTEXT DOES TOO THOUGH, why is this so hard for you?

We have dumbass fans who expect too much, sure, same with literally every fanbase on here but yah......

2 years does hurt his value, I never denied that, reading comprehension is really a problem for you isn't it.

Do you really think a 60 point 12M for next 6 years player is worth much more?
Yah I do, he isn't a detriment to your team, he isn't worth his contract sure, I'm not saying he is worth the moon or anything either, but if all we can get is that we keep him.

Also I do think on the right team he could put up 70+ points again, I know not worth 11.6 million a year but not worth two cap dumps either.

I just think people don't look at EP's circumstances this last 2 years...honestly, most that sit high on their hog, are not looking past the stats................

Lets look at the the facts..............

1. Extremely crappy team, with not much support...absolutely no elete wingers to play with
2. His wife had 2 miscarriages in the past 2 years
3. Miller on his case all the time in the first down year
4. Fan and Media pressure
5. Recent marriage
6. Trade rumors

People are critical, and rightfully so, when just looking at the offensive stats, but his defensive stats on a crappy team, are not horriible. Lead the team in blocked shots for example.

We look at Larkin and think, what a great player, he will bring in a haul of assets when he is traded, but he has had only one season with 79 points, all the rest have been sub 70 points.

I mean honestly, isn't it the contract that glares the most? I will not be suprized if Pettersson has a 80+ season this coming year on the Canucks, on a team that, has nothing left....stress does powerful things, and Pettersson has had his share!

Are they excuses? No! They are reasons! Just ask yourself how you handle adversity. Does he have risk? Yes, but mostly he has a bad contract!

His potential, is emmense! Especially if he is surrounded with good people.

Eveyone should look at Miller in NYR, and how he did this year, how did NYR do?............could he have been part of the problem?

Outrageous LA return with that albatross of a contract. More likely to be:

Ep40

For

Ceci, Dumoulin, and the 46 and 80 picks this draft.
Don't want Pettersson...Holland will be fired when he shits the bed...don't do Kenny...he's the next in your shitty trades signees...Duncan Keith,Jack Campbell...Holland gets colour blind and dumb dumb at times...go for the Russians and Trocheck or Zibanejad...Holland can trade LA's first rounder in 2031

He put up 100+ points with cap dumps as wingers

That excuse doesn’t hold any weight

No reason for Canucks to sell EP40 for pennies. Its the advantage of being in a rebuild, they arent anywhere near as desperate as the teams that are looking for 2C because they want, need to compete.

Who's more desperate? Canucks in a rebuild ? or Detroit in free fall with Yzerman or LA who paid assets to win now with Panarin?

Canucks should sit back and do 2 things.

1. Hope that EP40 regains his form. He showed really good chemistry with Boeser and Ohgren. Canucks should also have a decent PP with the like of Buium, Boeser, Rossi and Debrusk if he isnt traded. If EP40 puts it together again and scores 70+ points, then it will cost these teams 3x more than what they are offering now.

2. If this is it and this what EP40 is now, a 50+ point 2 way centre then Canucks should just hang on to him. Dont sell him until he has 1-2 years left in his contract, retain if needed, or trade him as a rental on an expiring deal and they should still get really good assets for him then. Look at what players like Laughton, Roy, Mccarron , Danault, etc got a the trade deadline. Centres hold their value.
