My god the O’Reilly haters are going to look so stupid in a few months

It’s almost like he’s still the same guy who almost led a mediocre team to game 7 against the cup winners just 6 months ago! And the same Cup and conn Smythe winner from 4 years ago!!

If you just watch O’Reilly you see he has been an elite player for 5+ years and is only 32. Maybe he’s regressing a bit but my god does he make the Leafs deadly… and I don’t even like the Leafs

For sure. I’ve always considered him a top-10 1C and before this season would’ve said he’s the 3rd best C (and #1 shutdown C) in the western conference behind McDavid and MacKinnon. Absolutely hilarious reading salty Bruins fans try to knock him and say he’s ‘been regressing for years now’. The first 40 games of a season when your team’s window is closing mean nothing when you’re an elite player of his caliber

You’re right - it was a great all-in move by a team that absolutely had to go all-in this year before tonight and it still is that now.

Nobody can guarantee anything but so much of this thread reeks of either people hating the Leafs because they are the Leafs or a sprinkling of idiotic TML fans who are destined to cry about everything and whose knowledge of other players extends only to sorting the points column on NHL.com.

The one team that has been so talented for so many years now and has just so completely folded when the pressure ramps up in the playoffs adds one of the leagues ultimate warriors, a center whose work ethic and two-way drive is beyond reproach and won a freaking Conn Smythe captaining a team to the Cup - and people want to complain that this isn’t a good move?

So yeah, tonight shouldn’t have changed anybody’s opinion.

It's hilarious, leaf fans knew he was junk and dead weight. Just a few days ago. Now they know he is the savior lol. Blues fans told him he was the guy they needed....guess they were right.

Can't see how we can make the ROR numbers work. He's still way too in demand to take the Giordano/Spezza deal and still a fair bit younger than those guys. Would obviously love for him to stay but I have a feeling this partnership ends when the season ends, unless ROR and his wife really want to be in Toronto.

Which Leaf fans are you referring to - a few bad apples don't speak for the majority. He was on the top of the radar for most - I was happy with Kane or O'Reilly

He may not go back, things can change if they go on a run. Hes 32 and Toronto better long-term for winning.
