Confirmed Trade: [TOR/STL/MIN] O'Reilly, Acciari, Pillar to TOR; Abramov, Gaudette, ‘23 1st, ‘23 3rd, ‘24 2nd to STL; ‘25 4th to MIN

I know one thing for sure:

The East gonna be a real bloodbath this upcoming playoffs... Rangers, Bruins, Toronto, Carolina, Jersey all loading up.. Tampa still a threat..... Whoever comes out alive will limp his way to the finals.....boy oh boy...
There may be a few pulled muscles along the way, but I don’t foresee many bruises from a bloodbath, unfortunately.

Toronto fans are going to appreciate Playoff O’Reilly. Good luck to him.

I think there is still some chance he re-signs in St Louis this off-season. That would be pretty crazy.

The point is that his stats are mediocre and he is a 32 year old power forward. Should he not be able to produce with whoever his linemates are? Anderson has played with much worse and put up the same stats so that should not be an excuse for a player with more ability than Josh. I haven't watched the Blues play much so I don't know if there is a reason for this season's performance.
O’Reilly is a power forward? You obviously have no idea what you’re talking about.

Since the Tampa series, it was obvious they wouldn’t go anywhere without adding 2-3 forwards who are hard to play against. That’s what won Tampa the series last season.. They had those players in their bottom 6. Players who win battles on the walls, play in traffic, and just wear down opponents. Players who can take the pressure off of the big 4.

Dubas accomplished that tonight. He deserves credit for knowing what he needed. People will mock the trade because ROR frankly hasn’t been great this year. However, he’s going to play a different role in TO. To win battles in the hard areas, and help wear down the other team’s better players.

Yep, they paid a huge price, but that’s what you do during your window.

They can use one more hard nosed player up front. An Oskar Sundqvist type. Other than that, the issue they have on the backend can’t be changed without a foundational change they can’t afford. So build where you can.

Great trade for both teams.
Yes. They need a point man for the PP but that won't come cheap.

I already provided you with the why and asked you how Anderson’s stats stacked up versus the context.

Good on Dubas. If the Leafs fail this time, it won't be for Kyle's lack of trying. If Mitch, Austin and JT thought the pressure was on before, buckle up boys.
Well there’s still Nylander who refuses to go into corners for loose pucks.

He’s had his good moments in the post season. It’s true. But then this happened last year also. No getting around it.

Assuming O'Reilly can pick his game up on a win now team and a far less demanding role, I really like this trade for Toronto. They basically gave up nothing of immediate value save their 1st, which was always going to be low and brought in what could be a high impact player up front

Their biggest weakness against Tampa and Montreal is the previous two seasons is inconsistent offense. O'Reily, in theory, should be a massive upgrade in that regard.

In one of the threads I stated there wouldn't be a 3d team and I was wrong about that. Now in fairness @RasmusAndersson there was an additional 1.25M salary on top of ROR's heading to Toronto which was not part of the original analysis and so a greater need was created. But I did say no third team and there was a third team, and I believe in accountability.

I'm pretty pleased with the return on the trade too because many people including quite a few Leaf fans who trashed ROR over and over have some owning up to do as well. A lot of them.

Lmfao leaf haters y'all are COPING.

COPE HARDER COPERS.

The Leafs certainly are filling in nice for the playoffs. Very impressive on paper and on the ice. They absolutely have a great chance to win a round this year. That should be their mark for a successful season . After that it’s all gravy . Good Luck the rest of the way . Stay safe

You’re clueless. He is a finesse Selke caliber two way center has probably the least amount of hits among forwards in the league. Lol
I always think of him as bigger than he actually is. A power forward is a guy who drives the net and can't be removed from in front of the net. Hits are bonus.

I like Acciari going to the Leafs. I think every team would love to add somebody like him. I'm not sure ROR was needed for the rest of the cost, but if they're going all in, I get it. The organization has to be tired of making to the post season and having nothing to show for it. Prospects are nice, but you have a competitive team right now.

The nice part is they hung onto all of their best prospects.
