Confirmed Trade: [TOR/STL/MIN] O'Reilly, Acciari, Pillar to TOR; Abramov, Gaudette, ‘23 1st, ‘23 3rd, ‘24 2nd to STL; ‘25 4th to MIN

They moved his line mates around constantly, which that coupled with the loss of Perron hurt his numbers this year. Saad is the only wing he had in any regularity.
He still had better linemates than Josh Anderson for example and Anderson has a similar stat line.

Acciari is a heavy dude who throws hits, but can score.

Obviously not the main pieces, but gives the Leafs nice depth and an added need, but they don't have a player who can't keep up with the play/make a play/finish a play

ROR will produce if you get him with the right linemates. He was magic with Perron.

Acciari really impressed me during his truncated season with STL. Hard working. Plays the right way. Will never slack off.

How does Anderson stack up in this regard:

“Ozone starts this year among all 153 centers with 500+ 5v5 minutes:

O'Reilly: 32.78% (9th fewest in the NHL)

Despite being buried in Dzone starts and facing among the highest QoC among centers (the matchup guy against the other teams best players night in night out) as well, he still holds a +3.87 xGF% REL....plus hes an elite faceoff guy.”

Amazing trade for Toronto

This trade is going to turn out terrible for them if they don’t do damage in the post season. And with Tampa and Boston practically locked in as their first two opponents there’s a good chance everyone is laughing at Toronto again come April.

Murray/Samsonov vs Vasey? Lol good f***ing luck.

This reeks of a desperate move from a GM who has spent his entire tenure not understanding where his teams weaknesses are.

What happened to Dubas not being willing to trade a 1st for a rental?

That aside, I think it makes sense for the Leafs, and I like the return for St.Louis and Minny as well. Solid trade all-around.

Considering 3C/2LW was unanimously agreed upon as the Leafs biggest weakness, you clearly have no idea what you’re talking about.

The Leafs were also 1 goal away from beating Vasi with a worse tandem, so I don’t know how goaltending is all of a sudden a huge concern.

O’Reilly will resign. Book it! He has a full NMC and he and his family chose TO. I’m certain he’ll return.

Shouldn't it depend on his performance in the post season?
If they get bounced in the 1st round again, and O'Reilly doesn't produce much - doubling down on a declining player is the wrong move.

Of course that's not the only possible outcome. All I'm saying is it's a bit premature to suggest he'll be re-signed.

There’s a good chance they don’t succeed regardless of what they do. Those teams have by default the toughest road to the Cup.

Vasi had an .897 vs Toronto last year. Unfortunately Campbell had the same.

It actually sounds like you might not understand their weaknesses.

ROR has looked pretty good since coming back from his broken foot. Solid pick up for Toronto and a fair deal for us. this Draft is going to be interestin.
