Confirmed Trade: [TOR/STL/MIN] O'Reilly, Acciari, Pillar to TOR; Abramov, Gaudette, ‘23 1st, ‘23 3rd, ‘24 2nd to STL; ‘25 4th to MIN

Precisely. No top prospects left the leafs organization aswell.

But then again, Orielly could be a 3rd liner with no wheels, accari could be a mediocre plug and the 1st they dealt could be mcdavid 2.0. "Could". Im sure hfb will milk that small percentage of likelihood.
ROR is ppg in the 3 games since returning from his injury. And now he goes to a team where he's the 5th best forward at best. Imagine a PK of him and Marner...

I really like this trade. Kept Knies, Minten and Niemala. The 2023 1st wasn't going to make an impact on this team this year (obviously) or next.

Bunting-Tavares-Marner
Knies-Matthews-Nylander
Jarnkrok-ROR- Kerfoot
Accari-Kampf-Engvall

I'd still like to move Kerfoot for a more physical forward option but Matthews-Tavares-ROR-Kampf down the middle is stacked.

People freaking out over the draft picks: 75% of ROR term is retained. That doesn’t come cheap.

As in there are players in this draft, at the bottom of Round 1, that would normally be top-10 picks in other years. This is one of the deepest drafts in recent history.
LOL HF living up to it's name. Every year, some fan of a rebuilding team hypes up the draft.

This draft will be lucky if it can produce the same talent from picks 20-30 that the 2015 draft did. And even that draft didn't feature any stars from the bottom of the 1st round. A good drafting team should be able to pick up some supporting middle 6 players from that part of the draft though.

The more I have sat and thought of this deal the more I like it.

I think there is a very good chance ROR could extend his stay beyond this yr as well.

I think both teams did well, here. Leafs are in win-now mode and paid a premium, but fair, price in a vacuum for O'Reilly and Acciari. Obviously, it's a pretty lean day come the draft for them, now, but it is what it is. Smart of both teams to get this done early. While the pick price is high, the Leafs hold onto their top prospects so the Knies and Nimelas can still (hopefully) be ELC contributors in the next couple of years. Hopefully being in a lesser role will help O'Reilly and he can be a strong contributor down the stretch,

Can we compare the teams they're playing on?
We sure can. Last year ROR took a step back but was still an impactful player for the Blues. This year, with the same core, they are terrible.

Is it because of Kyrou? No. Is it Thomas? Nuh uh. Buchnevich? Certainly not.

It was O'Reilly that has taken a huge step back. Krug and Barbashev as well. But this narrative that it is the team's fault his stats are so poor is BS. The team has performed poorly because O'Reilly and other vets have been terrible.

I think most of us will trust Blues fans on this one.

Looking at the Horvat and Tarasenko trades, this seems like overpayment. There was even debate in the ‘how many 1sts get traded’ thread regarding whether ROR would even get a 1st or not. Most felt Kane was worth more, while I argued some team will overpay for ROR. Guess I was right.

No Kerfoot in this deal? How is it possible? 95% of HF Toronto proposal involved Kerfoot with the euphemism of “for cap reasons”. LOL

If the Leafs couldn’t include Kerfoot in a swap such as this, can you please stop pushing him in other “deals”?
Wait, HF proposals matter?!
