Confirmed Trade: [TOR/STL/MIN] O'Reilly, Acciari, Pillar to TOR; Abramov, Gaudette, ‘23 1st, ‘23 3rd, ‘24 2nd to STL; ‘25 4th to MIN

The Leafs definitely aren’t done. They gave up extra picks for the salary retention. They didn’t need too do that, they could’ve fit him in. Deals not bad if you look at the retention, that costs picks.

You know I don't come on the main boards much because it's this garbage with anything Leaf related but right now it's funny.

You knew all the Trolls were coming out.

Regular people can admit generally... yup bad trade or good trade or even decent trade without being an asshole... but then... the trolls.

So anti leaf it's comical. Not even real hockey fans. Just hatred for Leafs. Feel sorry for you folks.

Even if the trade ends up not working... you try and make people feel bad for being excited about it.

Yeah.. let that sink in... you're the f***ed ones.

HF: "Matthews is going to walk if the Leafs don't make a trade, but nobody wants their late picks and crappy overrated prospects anyways."

Also HF: "I can't believe they traded away a first round pick in one of the deepest drafts of all time. Adam Gaudette is the best player in the deal."

Finding nuance around here is like finding a needle in a haystack. I think the Blues did a tidy bit of business in this trade, and they're setting themselves up well for the draft.

Gosh freakin' darn it! Of all the teams that didn't need Ryan O'Reilly, TML didn't need Ryan O'Reilly the most.

The only consolation here is that Boston, NYR and Carolina are all in their way and also, I cheer for a Western Conference team anyway.

Acciari is a veryyyy good bottom 6 player, we had a few proposals thrown around for him I'm pretty pumped with getting him in the deal as well

That’s plenty fair, I was just trying to simplify, but I took the 2nd and Gaudette out for Acciari which seems close. He may have fetched a touch more on his own, but in the scheme of this deal he’s a side piece. Still think Toronto made a real big splash with both pieces.

This trade is comical. Dubas trying to save his job at any cost. If this isnt the definition of acting in self interest & not as a fiduciary, nothing is.

Yeah they're not the team they used to be, they were already a step behind Toronto imo, this puts the Leafs at an even bigger advantage now. But they won their cups I'm sure their fans don't care, but it's exciting for us. Should've had them last year, but now it's basically Toronto added: ROR + Samsonov/Murray, Tampa lost McDonagh + Palat. Heavily swings the odds in Toronto's favor.
I know this isn’t a leaf fan underestimating the lightning! Can’t be!!!

How much cap space they have left?

So the centers as I see it.

Matthews
Tavares
O'Rielly
Acciari.

That move just fixed the 3rd and 4th lines in one move. Acciari is better than Kerfoot.

That means Kerfoot HAS to be gone to free up that cap.
Expect Kerfoot to be included in the next package for a D man.
My 3 year old said it was going to be Ghost. Well, she might have been pointing at a ghost when she said it. Swing Kampf over to the wing.

He's not worth that much, but we are a much better team today because of this trade. We did give up more than we should have but I like our chances much more than I did a couple hours ago. I've been preaching that this is the year we need to go all in, all year long. Dubas' job is on the line, and our core is still all here and in their primes. There's no clear juggernaut and this trade gives us as good of a chance as anyone. Hefty price, but you gotta take a big swing at some point or another. Only 1 team will win the cup, so whether it worked out or not remains to be determined.

But the biggest thing here is, we are a much better team now today because of this trade.

I agree. Which is why Blues fans thought it was weird that Leafs fans were so adamant about not going all-in with Dubas' job on the line. Most didn't want to trade the 1st at all, much less add to it. I'm not disagreeing with the price at all. I'm disagreeing with a large portion of the fanbase's hypocritical stance on it.

I'd imagine Acciari plays wing because there's Kampf as well.

Go watch the series lmao  Gotta love Wes !

Leafs were the better team last year, sadly the piss poor officiating determined the series. Now with Toronto improving their roster and Tampa getting worse, this swings the odds heavily in Torontos favor. If Tampa sits idle til the trade deadline, Leafs in 5
