Don't really get the Leafs all in thing.. They bought but this is far from all in. Still have all their top prospects, all next years first, all their roster players.

Dubas can easily recoup a first at the draft if he wanted to. This improves the team a lot for really nothing more than a late first. Rest is whatever
Lol how the hell does He recoup a first at the draft unless he gives up Knies

Knies could also be a late season add.

Regardless, Kerfoot shouldn’t touch the top 6. Jarnkrok has looked really solid on the second line as well

Lots of viable setups for the Leafs up front now
Playoffs are a different animal. Not quite sure Knies will be an impact player in top 6 with no playoffs experience. I think Dubas would like to add a seasoned player if he can manage the cap like he did on ROR.

Well I mean I’m an Avalanche fan because I found it hilarious as a kid to see the Nordiques dunk on the Leafs.

So it unites, but in strange ways.
Does that say more about you or him?

Edit: do not mean this as an insult haha

I think we all agree it was an expensive price tag, shouldn't be a debate about that. The biggest thing for us is that we added 2 quality players to our current roster and didn't lose a single guy. Just futures, and we still have assets to bring in another player. It's the 75% retention that drove the price up so high.

Yeah, and I'm not trying to bag on Toronto for the trade. I think it's the type of move they needed. I just think that a lot of the fanbase who were adamant about him not being worth that much changing their tune on a dime is disingenuous. There were some in favor of him though, but they were the minority.

It's an overpayment by Toronto, but all they care about is whether they win. This deal is a success if they win because of it. If they can't go deep in the playoffs, it's going to look terrible.
I mean as much as I hate trading picks away, this actually isn't too bad a deal where we didn't give up any top prospects and only gave up one 1st rounder and then some lower picks. Only thing we have to hope for is playoff O'Reilly to show up and stay healthy.

Part of me fails to see how this is any different than the foligno trade. This isn’t the oreilly from 5 years ago

I mean ROR is and has been a vastly superior player to Foligno. Very dumb to compare the two. Even if he’s not the same one from 5 years ago he was elite last playoffs.
