Confirmed Trade: [TOR/STL/MIN] O'Reilly, Acciari, Pillar to TOR; Abramov, Gaudette, ‘23 1st, ‘23 3rd, ‘24 2nd to STL; ‘25 4th to MIN

Where was this Toronto optimism on ROR in previous ROR trade threads? Lol. And I still think he's going to be an effective player for them in the playoffs.

Sure sure, but not giving up best prospects isn’t really a positive when it comes to getting a rental…no team does that. It shouldn’t even be a consideration.

This seems to be about the most you can pay for a rental, so it seems like a bit much. Especially for a rental who has dealt with injuries and is having a down year.

It means they still can address their defense if they want to and haven't carved completely to the bone in their prospect stable. They also get a guy who has the experience players on their team mostly don't have who while having a shit year is also going to be trying to show he's worth his next contract. Yeah, there is risk, but there is also potentially a lot of reward.

Wow that's quite pricey for a guy on a down year
Surprised Toronto didn't use those assets on defence or goaltending considering they already have two elite centres
Tavares isn't what he once was, and our goaltending is what it is. Unless someone like Saros was made available we're going with our guys

Team defense and the system we're running should be enough, what we've really lacked is depth scoring. ROR will hopefully provide this while also being competent defensively (fitting into the Leafs forward profile)

Leafs already have Tavares and Matthews down the middle so of course, they need to throw away a first rounder in a great draft to get another big name center.

Another Playstation move for that nerd Dubas

Will be interested to see who he plays with in Toronto. I think you need to give him linemates that have some skill and can play a puck possession style if you want to get the most out of him.

This is rich coming from a St. Louis fan. Take your draft picks and go.
Rich? Were you alive the last time your team won the Cup?

I think it’s fair to say the Leafs have had issues and am one of those who’d like the see the Leafs go further and break their curse which iirc was started when we got a certain betminder from Y’all and it’d be nice to see us send y’all someone back and it breaks it. That would be epic.

But if no one wants to answer my simple question, fair enough. I was curious how good the Leafs blueline was since I expected y’all to upgrade there.

It's one of our biggest needs, actually

We have David Kampf as our 3c, he hasn't scored in like 40 games. This gives us much needed depth production
I don’t mind Kampf in the role but basically yes.

The lineup can go in so many directions right now that I’m genuinely curious what Keefe does. It all depends on how they view him and where he’s comfortable. If he plays down at 3C then it creates a lot of match up problems for opponents and expands our scoring depth in the bottom 6. If he plays in the top 6 (next to Tavares likely) then it makes those lines that much more formidable at both ends of the ice (and at the dot).

Hopefully Acciari forces ZAR to sit as well

Good lord are you dense?

Yes I was alive. I was quite literally there. It was last year. Toronto isn’t my team.

Leafs D ain't too bad actually, they really need to address the goalie stuff, like just make sure they have a decently warm body just in case!
Leafs allowed very, very few prime scoring chances against TB last year. D was not their issue; Campbell being inconsistent and the vagaries of officiating did them in. Also, I think Vasi had like a sub .900 SP% against TO, it's really terrible luck doing them in.

Acciari along with ROR is what makes this trade so good for us. We get 2 solid 2 way players, capable of playing on the PK and depth scoring. ROR is likely our 3C, ability to slide up into the top 6 if needed. Him being a local guy gives us a strong chance at re-signing him as well.

The price was pretty expensive, but we didn't move any roster players, this is a solid addition.
