Confirmed Trade: [TOR/STL/MIN] O'Reilly, Acciari, Pillar to TOR; Abramov, Gaudette, ‘23 1st, ‘23 3rd, ‘24 2nd to STL; ‘25 4th to MIN

One of the guys I wanted, I'm sure he's happy to be here. Will be interesting whether he gets moved to LW with Matthews or centers Tavares or is used in a match-up role on the 3rd line to free up the top two lines on home ice. He provides a ton of line-up flexibility, some playoff experience, and hopefully he can find his stride quickly. Wanted him more than Kane, and the price on Meier is likely extremely high even if we recouped assets by trading him in June. Really happy to not have to give up Liljegren, Sandin, or Knies.

Love this for both teams. Blues stockpiling draft picks as we sell off our aging core. And smart move for leafs. They are all in this year. Knies may never be a star but he can help this year or next. by the time these picks are contributing, if they ever do, this leaf’s core will be done anyway.

I don't know what changed from February 9th when Dubas said no 1st for rentals unless ROR isn't actually a rental but I don't give a single f***.

I have been wanting them to go all in, TRULY ALL IN since 2018 when they signed Tavares and now, they FINALLY are.

I LOVE this.

I hope there is another move but I LOVE this
Sincerely hope you guys win a Stanley Cup. It's been long enough. Go leafs!

Another good Ontario boy!

Wonder where he will slot in. It's a high price, but I think they are doing the right thing putting the chips in. We'll find out soon if it's a flush or flop.

It's already 2nd round or the end of Dubas in TO, this was obvious before the season even began, and he is a lame duck GM.

This needs to work for him, but Leafs fans don't care (or shouldn't) WE want out of the first round with this core. regular season success is boring.
Yeah exactly, take it from me, as a Flames fan with a team with virtually no success in 20 years now. Getting into the second round in 2015 might have bit us in the ass for ending the rebuild too early, but it felt amazing. And even though we got smoked by the Oilers in round 2 last season, just winning around again felt incredible. You guys have gone so long without it, that even just winning one round would feel like pure catharsis

I hate the Leafs and ROR is certainly past his peak but the reactions from the peanut gallery here are peak HFB Toronto hate just because Toronto.
Thank you.

Most Leaf fans are pretty pumped. Leafs are really deep down the middle now and we're already.

ROR on the Leafs... we're all hoping will be a lot different than the year he has had so far. He's been on a pretty crap team overall so that's part of it... plus injuries.

Plus he's been great in the playoffs and that's what this trade is about. He's a big playoff performer.

It's spread out and they didn't give up any of their best prospects. And it's not like Dubas wouldn't be sacked if they can't make it out of the first round. He's paying in futures for his own job. And do you think MLSE will mind much if they do more than get out of round 1?

Sure sure, but not giving up best prospects isn’t really a positive when it comes to getting a rental…no team does that. It shouldn’t even be a consideration.

This seems to be about the most you can pay for a rental, so it seems like a bit much. Especially for a rental who has dealt with injuries and is having a down year.

Haha my dad (lifelong Leafs fan) for decades has gone to sleep at 10pm. It’s 11:30pm there and he is blowing up my phone with texts of excitement. :P
It's beautful how sports can unite generations.

price wise for TO is a non issue, dubas is at the end of the line if they dont make a run, so he could care less about those picks that he may not even be around to make......he made his team better today but is that whats needed to make a deep run?....still think the other side of the puck needs to be addressed.

Wow that's quite pricey for a guy on a down year
Surprised Toronto didn't use those assets on defence or goaltending considering they already have two elite centres

Leafs need to address their D but this will make them better. Who cares about the pieces they gave up in their situation.

This is a good trade for the Leafs.
They know they have to go deep this year ad ROR gives them playoff experience, leadership, local vibes, depth production. Acciari is fine for depth too. The Leafs know it comes down to a goal or two in the post-season and who knows? This might nudge them past Tampa Bay.
Oh, both of them might be there to play against the Habs. Yikes bleu-blanc-rouge tomorrow.

I honestly hope it's just a monkey on the back type thing.

Like, every series going 7 games too, accept the Caps, where like 4 of the 6 games went to OT.

ENOUGH! Haha. It's frustrating, but I guess better than the dark decade before (and really it's been a dark 50+ years I guess)
