I said I don't like Murray, I am not changing my stance on it until I am proven wrong, but the goalies you listed are a lot of average goalies, and some I'd rather pass over for Woll being given a shot.
I'd love to have average when the alternative is Murray

You're missing the part where Gustafson won't amount to much and Talbot is significantly better than Murray, and I don't even like Talbot.

You're also missing the part where our boy Dubas was the sucker to take that contract for only a 3rd

I think Murray has the potential to be alot better than Talbot and I like that he's actually had success in the playoffs. But you're right that the trade was horrible. Ottawa had no leverage and I would argue they got the better deal.

Even if Murray works out the trade value-wise stinks.

There's also a lose-lose thing about making this sort of deal with your downtrodden underdog bitter rivals. If Ottawa's goalie outperforms Murray any head to head, it's full gloating fodder. If the Leafs have a dominant win over Ottawa with Murray winning the game, Ottawa just says they're rebuilding, the Leafs are supposed to win and something like wait and see on Murray.

None of those words mean experience though - which was your beef with my initial post.
That wasn't my beef. It was that you highlighted the negatives of all the other goalies you mentioned while ignoring the negatives associated with Murray.

I am also very happy to see playoff success only matters when bad-mouthing our players, not when we are trying to hype up opposing players.

We shouldnt be comparing ourselves to a rival...we are trying to win a cup.

Believe they play Ottawa 2nd or 3rd game of the year. Should be interesting, season defining

No one cares about gloating. Do you really think GMs care about fans bickering?

Leafs are trying to win one playoff series.
Ottawa is trying to get close enough to be in the hunt for a playoff spot.

This one will cost assets. "Future considerations" + whoever Leafs have to move out to account for his cap hit + whatever Leafs have to pay to get rid of him when he doesn't work out. Aside from the first rounder they gave up to get rid of Mrazek to make room for Murray. Lots of assets.
Crystal Ball huh?:scared:

Why? Was Matthews laine season defining? Was getting beat by Carolina season defining?
The Canes one did impact our season heavily

Besides becoming the laughing stock of the hockey world for a while Dubas kept Barrie and didn't decide the make any big adds after we got embarrassed vs the Canes.

He stayed put at the deadline outside of a very minor move I'm forgetting becuase there wasn't any confidence in the 2019-2020 team which was battling for a playoff spot and was just embarrassed vs the canes

I mean last year when we got beat in the Andersen return game.

People have to realize players don’t care the way fans do about stupid narratives.

I don’t know about great but certainly cheaper and pretty reliable.
I don’t think many really mind Murray but more the terrible deal.
I would have anticipated that we would have gone towards Talbot. Don't know price for us though. If Kallgren would have made it for Wild. Though I don't understand why they got rid of Kahkonen, who is pretty interesting goalie prospect and would be happy to have him. Rather than Gustavsson, that is off course Wild's problem.

We'll see next year how this ends up. Murray has higher ceiling, but like said Talbot is more reliable. Oilers fans were pretty happy when they got rid of him, so he isn't any star.

Amount the negative side effects about this Murray trade is that it has awakened The Winter Soiled Diaper over at the Isles boards.

Also known as the closet leafs obsessed fan.
You are just as obsessed with Oilers and Islanders fan bases as they are with us.
