Yeah this just makes less and less sense

Did Dubas want to go for the home run with Murray's potential upside? Sure there's a chance he returns to form and becomes elite, but there's so much risk and the overwhelming likelihood is that he won't

And here with Talbot we could've had a solid 1A who gives you .915 goaltending for 40+ games. Pair that with someone like Samsonov and you have a solid duo
The simplest solution is probably the truth here, Dubas is as f***ing stupid as the people who worship him

I'll put it this way so you can understand

The sens traded a very low rent goalie for a guy that made last year's NHL all star game

We're paying 1 mil more a year for a guy who no one picked up off waivers
And as I said, no one can claim a $6.4 million guy with no cap room.

And reread it as many times as you need to.

Talbot is the much smarter bet with a more manageable caphit. Samsonov or Blackwood 1B and its a much more advantegous position to be in. This trade makes no sense

Pretty rich coming from a guy who doesn't understand how players are paid

You obviously don't know anything so I'll ask one more time

If he was any good why would have have been put on waivers

And why would he not have been claimed either in the off season or now.

Looking at their board they seem to be pretty fine with it

Murray hasn't played well for 4 years
He was .906 last season behind Ottawa's D - which was .915 before his last injured game.

3 seasons ago he was .919 in 50 games. He's had 2 iffy seasons, not 4.

And he's won 2 cups.

All of a sudden Cam Talbot becomes a great goalie
Joining other luminaries like Forsberg, Vanacek, and Georgiev.

Yet he still got shelled in 40% of his games and was trash for 3 years

He's a glue factory level goaltender that's why no one wants him

I'm gonna get too pissed off and ruin the thread so I'll leave it at that

Amount the negative side effects about this Murray trade is that it has awakened The Winter Soiled Diaper over at the Isles boards.

Also known as the closet leafs obsessed fan.
They need help! If you go on a message board and pull the stunt they’ve been pulling for years that is a cry for help.

I get what Dubas was thinking, but this is still a big loss. We needed more retention or better sweeteners. Ottawa was absolutely desperate to get rid of Murray. Comes down to us being out maneuvered with the other goalies. I would like the move if it was a 3 way with Ottawa paying for more retention, but this is ugly. Ride or die for Dubas. Loved him for a long time but its getting real old.

Good. Most people making erroneous claims would.

You guys are massively overeating Gustafson. Hes waiver fodder, and that price was easily beatable
I feel like it should be easily beatable. for sure but maybe MIN wanted a good young goalie. or one with potential. I think hes better than waiver fodder and prob better than Kallgren

Then offer Woll? Idk there's no reason Dubas shouldn't have done Talbot instead of Murray.

Then again I would've given up whatever reasonable price for any other goalie (besides Lehner) on the market. Samsonov, Blackwood, Reimer, Allen, Talbot... literally anyone but Murray

Murray is literally the only one who is potentially a starter. This crop of goalies sucks, and I will repeat, not happy with Murray, but no one else there is above average, most are below.

I'm sure they could have got Talbot for peanuts.

Leafs management betting hard in Murray.

Yeah I dunno what he was thinking I wanted Blackwood and then if possible Samsonov

And this lottery ticket could make me a millionaire!

All of those goalies are more consistent than Murray. And hell, could get two of them for basically the same cap hit as Murray alone

Watch Talbot shut out the Leafs the first time they play each other.

1.) Why would he even care?
2.) ottawa always plays Toronto hard. It’s all they have to live for they will miss again.

Ottawa right now is paying 5.35 million. Gustafson. 3/7 for talbot.

Toronto is paying 4,6 for Murray. Got a 3 and 7 and traded 13 spots.

Minny got rid of kakkonen and talbot for fluery and gusto?

I don’t know who wins here?

Given the health histories I may have preferred talbot to pair with a young goalie with potential if we thought hill/comrie/Samsonov could turn into something

I said I don't like Murray, I am not changing my stance on it until I am proven wrong, but the goalies you listed are a lot of average goalies, and some I'd rather pass over for Woll being given a shot.
