Buffalo deal was Murray + 7th for 16th.

What is the price to move up from 9 spots in the 1st round? Another top 90 pick.

That's the only logic I can think of here.

I feel the same. We're in the minority, lol.

If he can stay healthy, I think good chance he can be good for us.

Now, there's obviously a high chance things can go south, but I'm going to at least give this a chance.
Much happier with this than mrazek

He's legit done some dirty things in the playoffs

Mrazek was a sieve there

Big gamble move that hopefully works out

Still in disbelief.

If we waited for him to be bought out and negotiated a UFA deal with Murray because he’s really our missing piece in net, would we sign him for $4.7m for 2 years per? Would anyone offer him that, when it was known he was only interested in Toronto or Edmonton?

God, Dubas can’t negotiate worth a damn, and has no idea how to press when he has leverage.

He just got absolutely hosed. I hope he’s gone before it’s time to renegotiate Matthews, Nylander, and Marner. The guy just bends over.

Come on guys, how can you not trust Doobie

Not even the biggest fanboys can put a spin on this. Straight up Dubas is just hoping for a hail Mary gamble to pay off on goaltending and that's a fireable f***ing offense with a team that's in its prime contention window

That's a disappointing lack of salary retention.

And hey I hope he works out great (of course) but I have a real difficult time justifying in my head that Murray 2022 is worth $4.7M while Campbell was lowballed at $2.75M or something like that.
It literally walks all over our former narrative with Jack.

Man I always forget how damn dramatic everyone is.

"We should have just signed Campbell" 🤡

You guys, Matt Murray had a great season last year before his last two games and a concussion. Even if you don't see value in Murray, it's very likely both Toronto, and Ottawa do. We're literally picking up a goalie with a Stanley cup pedigree (career .921 in the playoffs) and coming off a season where he did this:

I'm disappointed in *only* getting back a 3rd with 25% retention as from our perspective it appeared like we had Ottawa over a barrel, but its not even remotely a bad trade. It's not close to a win as we took on all the risk, but we got paid to take on a 28 year old starting capable goalie with 2 cup rings. I can't believe (well I mean, it is HFLeafs) people are saying things like: "The worst deal Dubas has ever made" like the Foligno deal didn't happen.

We got paid to take on a potential #1 goalie at a 25% cap hit. The return was light, but again, we got paid to take on a #1 goalie lol.

This is what happens when you continually treat your GMs and players as "friends", You get bent over by f***ing everyone.
I was listening to his pre draft presser and he just seems too nice a guy for this gig. He just gets walked over and has created such a cozy environment.

So after thinking about this for 45 minutes, the only positive I can think of if this gamble doesn't work out is Murray is such a bandaid he probably already owns property on Robidas Island. You could disappear his money on LTIR.
