I like Martin, but that's a bit too much. Either a year too much, or $500K too much.

Either way, it's not the worst thing ever. I do look forward to him in a Leafs jersey.

Would have preferred 2-3 years, but I think it will be a good fit! Martin may be a hitter and grinder but he can actually play the game. Excited to see what he can bring to the table.

Sosh, Leivo

Gotta just get rid of Michalek and Greening now. God damn Sens.

Laiche is gonna be the 4th line center he has no business being on the third line.

JVR- Mathews- Marner
Shoshnikov- Kadri- Nylander
Komorov- Bozak- Hyman
Martin- Laiche- Greening

Potential lineup next season without any trades.

It's not a good signing due to the term, but it's not the level of terrible I've become accustomed to under previous regimes.

I love the Leaf fans that said you can't give Stamkos 10 million per, you can't overpay him by 2 million a year....

This is the garbage you get otherwise, overpaying 4th liners, this summer has sucked, Andersen was handed too much term, every draft pick not named Matthews was brutal and Matt Martin is Colton Orr 2.0.

The honeymoon is ending with this management.

The team isn't competitive right now so it doesn't really matter if they're overpaying a plug. It would be better if the contract was only for two years but really at worst can't they just buy him out after two years. His contract is low enough it shouldn't make much impact if he's bought out, i wouldn't think.

Here I was feeling pretty good that Toronto hadn't gone out and made any mistakes. Oops.

This is exactly what the Leafs needed. a 4th liner that can play hockey and fight, while leading the league in hits.

2.5M is nothing, stop crying guys

This is actually a perfect signing for Toronto. It's a year too long but the price is fine; everyone knew Martin would get overlaid. At least this isn't drastic. But he's a great fit for Toronto. He brings it and he adds toughness to the fourth line that can actually play hockey. I like what Toronto is doing. They need a dman.

Matt Martin is a very effective shutdown player.

He's nothing more than a 4th liner, but he's a very good 4th liner.

You need respected vets and guys with work ethic to mix in with young talent. Leafs have so much cap space and this only takes up 2.5 mill.

Not jumping for joy or throwing my remote at the tv with this one.
