A little much and a little long for me but I suppose it's good for the kids to have some protection and a guy with a high work ethic.

Because Komarov Aside our forward group in too ****ing soft this, STARTS to fix that

Yeah better bring back Colton Orr too. Lets get Luke Schenn on the blue line while we're at it. This way of thinking is so outdated. Do his extra couple of hits a game really make him that much better than Leivo or Leipsic?

Perfectly fine signing for a team with plenty of space. Sure it's above what he should likely get, but Tor can afford it.

Basically the max I'd be willing to give Martin so it's not great but he really fills a need for the team and it doesn't seem like the contract can really hurt us in the long run so I'm pretty happy with it.
Martin will be a fan favorite he leads the league in hits and is a great team player he will be missed on the islanders i wish we resigned him

I like this deal. Would have taken him on the Flyers for that. Great for protecting Toronto's young guys and adding some physicality.

Martin's kind of a meathead, but it's not THAT bad. It would be worse if the Leafs were a cap team.

This is basically red meat for a certain segment of the fanbase while the team goes through growing pains. They can cut him loose in a couple of years if it becomes an issue.

He's not going to be a 4th line player on a team that won't make the playoffs. So everyone who's all "durrrr he's a 4th liner" well clearly he won't be in Toronto. Toronto gets a tone setting player who will play hard every night and will be given every chance to play some hockey.

Yeah they gave too much money and term, but he's 27 years old. Worst comes to worst they retain 1.25 million for 2 years and trade him to a cup contender who needs a great 4th liner.

I love the Leaf fans that said you can't give Stamkos 10 million per, you can't overpay him by 2 million a year....

This is the garbage you get otherwise, overpaying 4th liners, this summer has sucked, Andersen was handed too much term, every draft pick not named Matthews was brutal and Matt Martin is Colton Orr 2.0.

The honeymoon is ending with this management.
Don't let the door hit you on the way out!

Not much room left on this bandwagon!

I hated playing against Martin, so glad we have him. I don't mind the term since 3 and 4 years from now we will still need 4th line players who can hit and stop shots. I think the money is a tad high, but nothing that will hurt the team.

Because those comparisons are legit

Leipsic is not NHL ready.

Honestly, I stay off these boards and don't comment because of moronic posters like you.

Leafs have had a solid summer. Signing a 27-year-old very good hitter and grinder for $2.5 per for four years to add to our INCREDIBLY soft lineup is not a bad move at all.

Christ sake we get Auston Matthews. Trade and sign for a very solid, young goaltender and this move puts the management on the hot seat. Give it a rest.

I can tell you're butt hurt over not getting Stamkos but come on man, relax.

Man Toronto has a lot of depth in terms of their prospects and young players and every time a veteran signs there, I cringe that that's a spot being taken away from one of the younger players. I guess the money is fine, just 4 years not so much, it seems like a future buyout.
