None,

Rielly is only getting a 2.5 million raise.
That money is gained through:

Kessel retention expires and 1.2 million is gained.
Kerfoot is traded and 3c is filled wih another option making 2.5 million.
It really is simple.
Are Leafs adding a 1st to Kerfoot? Cause teams ain't taking a 4th liner for 3.5M$ unless paid to do so.

After his bonus is paid out he makes less than league minimum next season. You don’t think that would have some interest to a team that cares more about real money than cap hits?

Lol
Ottawa was definitely one of the teams I was thinking of. Melnik would love that contract.
Some Sens fans would be pissed they did anything to help the Leafs. Until he scores on use.
And many Leafs fan who have claimed he has value can go on and talk about how worthless he then is.

I used to care about helping out divisional rivals but really it's about taking advantage of an opportunity that some other team will anyway.

I can't speak to whether Kerfoot would be the right fit at the time, but I suspect not everyone will be right up at the cap which means there will be opportunities.

The Leafs still possess a massive financial advantage in terms of being able to front load contracts along with a few other teams out there.

And that deal looks terrible.

Freddy Andersen just signed 4.5 mill on a contender with a long long history of being a starter.
“Looks terrible” as he’s played what, 4 games? You literally just said don’t judge the Leafs after 7 games

Anderson got $4.5M after losing his starting job

Now that's a deal I can live with! Happy it didn't start with an 8 or 9!
I know right! Look at the Oilers on the Nurse contract! Lol. They paid Almost $10M for a guy who’s peak is 40 points.

Rielly took a nice discount to stay in T.O! Biggest and best Canadian city. D men that score 70 + points in the NHL are cashing in much more than $7.5M

That's a good deal for a #1D-man.

The question is whether you think Morgan Rielly is a #1D. With the exception of one year-and-a-half stretch a few years back, I've never seen him as on that level.

Marner and Matthews were signed before the pandemic. Is that too hard a concept to understand?

Rielly’s career high = 72 points @ 7.5M
Pulock + Pelech COMBINED career high = 58 points @ 10.75M

Still feel good? Perhaps next time you will refrain from comparing completely different types of D. Pelech would be paid more than Reilly if he wasn’t absolutely useless at scoring.
Now compare playoff wins or even better playoff series wins....

He's scored 70 points once 4 years ago, and a season at 52 and a bunch in the mid 30s. I don't think it's an awful deal but he's not a 70 point defenseman.

Totally. But even if they had success, chances /10 you’d still be here moving goalposts? I’d go for a 8.5/10 for the majority here
Incorrect answer is incorrect.
There would be no need to even ask my first question had they actually had playoff success.

Again, why is Campbell only getting $3.5M if he’s good enough to be a starter? What Cup Calibre starters are getting that much?

He hasn't played a single season as a starter prior to this one, or even as a 1B. He's been a very late bloomer.

He doesn't exactly have the track record for any type of bigger money deal.
