Won 7-1 tonight and people are whining that we traded an AHLer two years ago.
Nobody is questioning this teams ability to win regular season games.
But just maybe , having a big tough player in the lineup might help us finally win a playoff series….. but Dubas doesn’t want any big tough guys. We will just continue to punish people with our power play. I guess that’s still the plan?

4 of the 23 regulars were here before Dubas. At this point he has a large influence on the team. We complained how he couldn’t build around the stars, but now that he did he can’t be given credit?
Credit for what exactly? If this group can win in the playoffs they will all get credit. Until then, people are going to question every single move…. And they should. Even teams like Winnipeg, Calgary and Chicago have won playoff series in recent years. All we get to talk about is how many regular season games we win and all the power play goals we score….. then the playoffs start

Muzzin, Simmonds, Ritchie, Clifford.... brought in Bogosian last year. brought in Foligno last year.

Why do you need to hold onto a narrative so hard, that you ignore reality?

Remember when we drafted Dermott one pick before Aho! Who was the GM at the time? How did he not See that Aho was not a stud and Dermott nothing more than a depth Dman carried by playing with McDavid/Strome/DeBrincat

If Marchment was on this team it's 50/50 he make our starting lineup. He would probably spend most nights in the press box.

Take the L on this player, dude. He's on a team higher in the standings than the Leafs and the Leafs currently have 6 forwards signed as UFAs in the summer. Of course he would have been on the team.

Vince Dunn was the player they missed out on, IMO.

Deep in the Purple jungles of BC
Name me one GM in any sport that has never made at least one if not a share of player transactions that didn’t pan out for the team ?
you win some and lose some
I love that Dubas and Leaf management and ownership isn’t gun shy about making moves to try to win ….
Keep it going

Interesting comp.

Dunn, who looked good in a very sheltered bottom pairing role in STL, has had a much tougher go in his first taste of real top 4 duty this year.

Not a single person in the world believed Mason Marchment would become a PPG player if you asked them when this trade was made. Not Mason himself, nor any of the GM's in the league.

It's great to see a guy blossom later in his career like this, what a terrific success story for an undrafted player. It sure would have been nice if Marchment could have done this in a Leafs jersey, we could use what he brings. But not a single human being alive or dead saw this coming, so anyone using hindsight to criticize Dubas for this one is laughable IMO. Human beings add the element of randomness that make watching this game interesting.

Well, lesson learned. Especially after signing Buntlander and seeing his impact. Moore and Marchment are closer to his territory. Need these pesty tenacious players with a bit of skill in your depth. It's what we were missing the last 2 series.

Maybe Malgin chapter isn't done either. They might re-visit him since he's smoking the league he's in right now but it does suck because we don't need him, we literally need a Marchment in his current form.

Been repeated many times: They developed Marchment right up to 2020. There's a photo online of the skating coach standing next to him with the caption "One of her success stories". Then they send all their hard work to Florida. That's the issue people have.

We didn't know, but the organization surely knew he was close, but jumped on Malgins corsi% instead.

This not much you can debate here from that angle, so people seem to be ignoring it and claiming people are just whining about something they didn't know about.

It's a cop out to focus on PPG as well. He doesn't need to be ppg for people to want him and nobody needed to know he would become a ppg player. He's perfect for our third line and that's all, so they deserve to be questioned "why?"

Short version: Not enough info at the time for fans to really question or care about it. With current events + deep dive into his development + quotes from people who helped develop him, it has come to light..."wait....WTF?"

I liked the guy. Used to think he was like a shark after the whistle swimming back and forth just ready to attack at a moment’s notice if someone stepped out of line. Seemed to make Engvall tougher too.

Never thought it was a good trade and almost saw it as the leafs giving a guy an opportunity that he wasn’t gonna get here.

But noone predicted a transformation like this. To say otherwise is a super easy addition to the ignore list. Trolls.
