Maybe, they got what turned out to he the better player whether they the the potential or not.
You’d have to assume they did unless you feel teams make moves just for the heck of it.

No, that is not the only assumption nor is it a valid conclusion. Teams make lateral moves based on positional needs, teams try to accommodate players. It is totally possible that Florida had a better idea of Marchments potential than the Leafs did no doubt, but it is not the only possibility.

If he stayed, maybe the emergence of Engvall would not have happened. Toronto gave him four years to prove he should be on the big club and he didn't.

With the current roster, would he actually get a spot? Probably not.

Can't we be happy that a player who didn't work out here is working out somewhere else?
Team chose Simmonds/Kase over him/ said not knowing the behind the scenes.

Sure he did. He invited him to development camp for two years and signed him.
Yeah he did , Shanny knew Marchments dad since they were kids .

But I’ll guess we’ll go with Dubie spending his time scouring jr rinks across North America and Europe to find invites to our development camps , lol .

It is the more likely senario.

Hockey is ultimately a relationship game to get your chance .. after that you must perform .. like a lot of other occupations in life .. it is ultimately why former players kids get many advantages starting when they are 4/5 years old .. if a regular guys kid is good and a former ohler's kid trying to break onto a AAA team and both are similar ultimately da former ohlers's kid makes team .. unless of course that kids dad write da cheques than all bets are off and a better kid likely gets cut .. hockey has never been a FAIR game .. and my understanding is it is getting worse by da year

Imagine being 4th overall in the league, largely based on a team Dubas built, and truly believing this garbage.

I agree that post was garbage and I think overall Dubas has done a good job but I have to say, this team is what it is based mostly on star players that were in the organization before Dubas was in charge so let's not get carried away here.

What some don't think about is that Dubas is creating a team of his design. Some good players will be lost to get other players that he feels will suit the game style the Leafs want.
So would marchment do as well here? More importantly is would the team do as well with him here?
The bottom line is, and I believe Dubas or shanny said in the beginning that they will lose good players to build their team. Or something like that.

Side not I'm happy for marchment. I was one who was hooking he would make our team..

4 of the 23 regulars were here before Dubas. At this point he has a large influence on the team. We complained how he couldn’t build around the stars, but now that he did he can’t be given credit?

sports brings out the best and worst in people. definitely shocking how many utterly miserable people there are supposedly rooting on their respective teams. it's like.... this doesn't seem fun for you. why don't you stop watching and find another source of entertainment?

If Marchment was on this team it's 50/50 he make our starting lineup. He would probably spend most nights in the press box.

He's an average player, on a bit of a tear right now. His AHL production wasn't even this good. He isn't going to be the next superstar. People are overthinking this.

And those 4 were Reilly, Nylander and M&M. The team was stacked with young talent, they'd just set an all-time team rookie scoring record so it was clearly a team on the rise and I think it's likely that whoever took over the team, we would have made the playoffs every year since then. I'm also more than happy to give him credit, I've repeatedly said that despite his mistakes he's done a good job overall and I never complained that he couldn't build around the stars.

What I'd really like to give him credit for is building a team that finally brings us some playoff success and I sure hope he's able to do that before he gets replaced. But he hasn't done it yet and while gets credit for what he's accomplished, he also takes responsibility for what he hasn't.

We've gotten our share of good bargain bin players (Hyman, Bunting). Sometimes you acquire one, sometimes you deal one.

Florida deserves credit for their development though. This is the same with Verhaege, Duclair, Bennett, Forsling. They know how to identify solid talent and put them in spots to succeed

He has but it hasn't been successful when it matters most. Unless people are completely happy with being regular season champs and playoff chokers. Not the right balance on this team IMO

Perhaps but his price tag sure looks better than Ritchie's
