maybe you should follow the discussion before you jump in

The big players he acquires fill important roles and play big minutes, the smurfs are injury fill ins and Marlies fodder. If you really want to complain about his last draft, feel free, but you're going to have a tough time finding anyone who agrees that we didn't get great value for the picks we had.

Maybe you're right though, we should go back to Hunter's philosophy and take Rasanens over Robertsons.

Are you really making a final evaluation of player before they even turn 20? And having 2 potentially impact players isn't bad considering where they're drafting.
the person i replied too was making a final evaluation , i was just stating facts

we drafted small productive players , why is it some huge surprise that they're still productive and why should i be overjoyed about that ?

small productive players are a dime a dozen at the lower levels and most like Petan never amount to much , the special one's like Marner usually go higher , sometime you get the Debricats but until they do it in the NHL i'm not going to to excited because a 20 year freshman is having a good year at Harvard

1 guy a draft ? i guess the standards of what constitutes a good draft have been lowered since Dubas took over as GM

all i hear is excuses and if all the smurfs are just injury fill ins and Marlie fodder why are you praising these moves ?

Where did I praise them?

We got a 4th line fill in probably for the aftermath of a winger for D trade, who cares?

You're upset at Dubas over something that isn't actually happening, it's strange to watch. Complaining about contracts or something at least makes sense, the "Smurf philosophy" garbage literally only has 3 AHL tweeners that cost us nothing as evidence.

I said impact I.e. top 6, top 4, starter.... 1 Impact per draft is fine.

If he only got 2 players who even made the NHL that would be a problem.

i'm not complaining about this trade , i said multiple times it was a nothing for nothing trade

i just find it funny how he seems to love to acquire smurfs

and Carcone cost us Levio who would be a decent bottom 6 player for us

i'm just going by how many times i read that Hunter's draft were busts because he didn't acquire 3 plus quality NHLers per draft

Leivo wanted a trade because Babcock wouldn't play him, not sure what you're expecting to happen there.

This might blow your mind, but every single GM trades for players under 6 feet at some point, some of them even trade for players under 6 feet who actually play on the NHL team for more than a handful of games.

Wow listening to the Florida beat reporter on 590 talk, I’m hardly excited. Cheated defensively, fell out of favour with his effort. Soft and not a good fit bottom six.

I’ll keep an open mind but exactly what we don’t need here atm.
Sounds like a perfect fit with this cast of low-characters

What does that even mean? If Dubas and Yzerman both get 3 smurfs back in an AHL contract trade, it's ok for Yzerman because he's not "actively seeking it out"?

You've run out of straws to grasp and have to go for semantics. You're allowed to not like Dubas without needing to invent fake reasons for it. Go for the contracts, at least you can make some sort of real argument there.

For me the annoying thing about all this is just the zero NHL payoff to all these pet projects as well as the fact that when was the last time a depth defenseman was acquired to bolster the lineup?

I doubt JT is being paid per hit and do you really want him hitting as much as your bottom 6 forwards ??
No he is not being paid per hit, but he sure as hell could be hitting more than he is. Steven Stamkos, the single player I would compare is the most similar to Tavares has 66 hits in 54 games. Duchene has has 38 hits in 54 games. Bergeron has 38 hit in 51 games. I really don't see how top players that have good size don't average at least 1 hit per game. This goes for Matthews as well, only 33 hits in 61 games. These are the players we need more physicality from.

We're not small, we just play small.

I think a good example of this is the Buffalo game when Sandin tried to stick check Okposo as the last guy back. You don't have to kill the guy..but get in his way...it's ok..it's allowed. I have to think they actually teach them to play this way...it has to be...

Put him on line with Matthews unite them for cup win lol

I know you are joking but as there does seem some confusion in this thread, if memory serves me correctly Matthews and Malgin did not play on the same line when they both played with ZSC Lions. Malgin was mostly a center for us here in Zürich.
