I get were not moving down much, and an early second/late first have similar value but optically it looks like shit. Second time in how many years we've had to trade a first for a bad contract that we signed.

no other team has traded a bad contract before?

Why can posters not separate deals?

Yes, signing Mrazek was in hindsight, a mistake.

Being able to rid his cap space by moving down only 13 spots, is a win.
Sure....if another GM cleaned up this mistake - with this deal - everyone would applaud it.

The fact we're allowing the guy who made the blunder; dip his toes back into the same pool again, looking for an even pricier net minder this time .... who wouldn't shudder?

Sure keep using him as a reference to make Dubas look like a star
For the record. Lou even not making the playoffs last year, has played more playoff games last 3 years then the Leafs

Then there GMs like Yzerman, Brisebois and Sakic. but we shouldn't compare Dubas to them..... They gave us respect

Hey man! Where did I mention Dubas being a star?

Oh I see nowhere. I was just stating something. Ah yes, The Lou who has actively made his team worst, deserves all the credit. Nice.

How is this good? You just traded another 1st round to dump a guy YOU just signed last year. People ragged Lou and the Marleau thing for less. Now all of a sudden this is good? Not how you build something that endures. This is his you build something desperate.

Heh. He got bashed a lot for that dumb signing, now he gets out of it for a pretty small price. That's a good thing.
I guess the negative he needs to avoid those mistakes.
Fine move for me. Fixing a mistake is never amazing but at least he stayed in range of 25.

Because this could mean the difference between running with Mrazek and Kallgren or running Campbell/Kuemper and Kallgren.

Sign a starter and this is an easy win

First time we had to trade a 1st for a contract Dubas signed.

Only in Toronto is signing a trash injury riddled goaltender and overpaying him for years and then subsequently trading our first round pick to dump him the very next season is somehow considered a good move.

No, it's not a good move because the initial signing was laughed at by most people with half a brain, including me.
Yep, our front office is commended for learning a lesson like some children's cartoon.
