2nd overall in the NHL.
1st in the Division.
Best shot at a Final 4 in forever.
The next Rocket Richard winner on the team.

....if this isn't the year you go all-in, when is it?

A lot of people seem very upset that the Leafs gave up a mystery box to address a team need. Weird.
i know we just bought a boat, but that draft pick could be anything..IT COULD EVEN BE A BOAT!!!!

Dubas right about now:

Lol, well we could always draft another Tyler Biggs with our late first round draft pick with a weak draft. I think Dubas accumulated enough young players to justify sacrificing a first in 21.

Dubas didn't accumulate the young players. Our scouting staff did. Dubas traded away a 1st for Marleau last year, and the 1st this year.

Imagine at the end of the year if we had 2 Sandins and 2 Robertsons instead of trading away our last 2 first round picks and being left with nothing.

This is not even talking about how Carolina took Seth Jarvis with our pick. A player that is going to be a star in the league.

It does appears we're going all in @Ginger Papa
And I sincerely am happy for you and the friendly Leafs fan base. I’m excited to see what moves are still ahead before Noon EST tomorrow.

I know the Leafs Fan Base gets a bad reputation, most of it Canadian media driven imho. Of course there’s the Lunatic Fringe which pisses the rest of the hockey community off, but every fan base has a % of those.

As I mentioned in my previous Post, I want to see the Cup come back to Canada.

I think it’s amazing how your GM is positioning the Team to go all the way this Season. Utilizing all resources at hand & adding immediate and future depth.

I have mixed feelings in that I'm not sure where he fits into the line up. I'm assuming he will be 2nd or 3rd LW, but can he still play efficiently in the top 6? He brings those things we need, leadership, defensively smart, gritty checker with some skill, albeit, not as much as he used to of course.

He also stands up for his team mates and is a pretty good fighter, hell, he's fought Reaves and did decent.

I guess he will debut the 19th vs Vancouver or 21st vs Winnipeg so we will wait and see

oh i totally agree with that,,he is Hyman with a bigger bite

but the fact remains,,, he is 6ft and to call that "big" is just wrong

For the life of me I have never understood the HF fascination with height? It is almost THE most irrelevant thing there is. He is 6 feet and 211 pounds. That is VERY solid. The weight means a lot more than the height.

Robertson was a second round pick. To have sustained success in the cap era you have to hit on one or two of the picks later in the draft.

Dubas cleaned up Lou's mess. He had no choice with the cap
He regained that with a nifty trade for Kapanen

I am a critic of Dubas but to say that he sold the barn is a bit of a stretch. There's no gurantee that those drafts would have been 2 Sandins and Robertssons

As a matter of fact, because we have Sandin and Robertsson in the pipeline we have the flexibility to make those trades. We have stocked up on young guns. Hirvonen, Armala and Amirov also looking like decent picks.

Not to mention that our core players haven't even reached 24 yet ( except for Nylander)

At some point, you go for it. So let's go for it. We have given ourself enough margines to make these trades

I hope he trades the entire 2021 drafts. How are you going to pick players? based on what scouting?

Let's get Ulmark, let's get another scoring winger for cheap like Bobby Ryan

Waive Simmonds and Joe. No one is going to pick them up

Remember that this is the remains of HockeysFuture......where the mentality of collecting the most high draft picks is always more important than winning championships.

Lol @ all the rage. Imagine this place 4 years ago complaining about getting Nick Foligno. You will see this trade pay dividends and then some in the playoffs. He will be a huge difference maker for us in the postseason. Count on it

What is the likelihood the first pick would turn into a Nick Foligno calibre player

He can also turn out to be a complete superstar. I mean nobody is playing right now, maybe some kid who was ranked at 28 has turned into a top 10 like Brendan Saad ( who was ranked top 10 then dropped due to injury)

It could go either way. Maybe a top 10 player will drop to 28 since you know, he hasn't played in a year or in some cases who were injured hasnt' played in 2 years

a 16 year old going to be 18 by the time of a draft. You know that transformation physically?

Yea, but you can't wait for first round picks. You got your top guys in their primes, you have to go for it. Going deep in the playoffs is more valuable than a late first round pick.

Not stoked about the 1st, but if you’re going to part with one, this is the year to do it.

Foligno was the right target, Scott Laughton would have been great too. Can’t understand how anyone would complain about us getting better.

Not sure what Doobie can still swing, but I’m relieved to see he’s continuing to diversify our roster. We were never going anywhere with soft skill alone.

he is 1 inch shorter then the league average and about 10 lb heavier
now you can call that a big player,,i sure as heck won't

how he plays is a different descriptive line
