No, but the one we got back definitely isn't bonafide anything but AHL bound and then off to free agency, probably the KHL I would suspect.

Ya might wanna check your look on this one.....it ain't lookin very bright.
Are you not tired of seeing our guys get bounced around by the Habs, Ottawa with Tkachuk and Calgary with the other and Boston etc. and every other physical team? We added a big body who is willing to smoke players and flatten them who obviously a good leader being captain who has scored some nice goals. The 1st we gave may not even amount to the 1st we got, its a crapshoot

I was super hyped when I heard this on the radio while driving .. Came to HFBoards and people shitting on the trade was such a buzzkill. jesus christ.

We're going all in. And it feels great. Who cares about the 30th overall pick in a CUP RUN year?

Especially in this uncertain draft with no Junior even being played. Not giving up a roster spot in this trade was a steal.

We have a GREAT mix of speed, skill and finally.... sandpaper.

GLG. Great trade.
Slight correction, 31st overall pick

I mentioned this on Thursday!
Leafs gotta pull a 94 rangers type deadline.
rangers won the cup in 1940, 1994 (54 years)
leafs won the cup 1967, (54 years is this year...)
rangers went out and got playoff type greats
Glenn Anderson, Craig Mactavish, Stephane Matteau at the deadline.
traded a great player in Gartner to leafs (one of the top goal scorers in NHL history but no Cup ring).
My favorite player Wendel Clark was asked who leafs need for playoffs: he said Foligno. I’m gonna trust his judgement. that’s the type of players we need. would be great to get more players who have won the cup already as well. Again rangers broke their 54 year wait, lets break our 54 year wait.

Thursday at 10:36 PM

2nd overall in the NHL.
1st in the Division.
Best shot at a Final 4 in forever.
The next Rocket Richard winner on the team.

....if this isn't the year you go all-in, when is it?

A lot of people seem very upset that the Leafs gave up a mystery box to address a team need. Weird.

If that was the only point he was trying to make then ok. I'm not even saying it was bad to trade the pick. But I can understand the questions if Foligno was the right target.

Sure, I can see where you are coming from with saying its ok to trade the pick.

But I was talking strictly about trade value. The pick is worth more, and its disingenous to say that they cancel each other out. They can't turn around and trade Noesen for another rental like Foligno. Maybe whoever they draft busts but right now that pick carries the value to make trades with, Noesen is worth nothing.
Understood and could be true we don;t know at this point but me personally am tired of watching our big players refuse to finish their checks and our guys getting bounced around by the Tkachuks and Webers etc of the league

He was constantly caved in against the Leafs and Lightning last year. All of the time. He had a 38.9 CF% with 66% OZS with Columbus in last year's playoffs. That is atrocious any way you slice it.

Just a quick correction on his OZS%.

It's not as bad as you think.

Not sure where you got the 66% number but he had a 38.9 CF% on 37.5% Ozone starts and 28.57% Ozone Faceoff% last playoffs on a team that was 44% CF% in the playoffs.

Exactly right?!? I love the move and I know exactly why... I f***ing hate Foligno, he's a piece of s**t when we play against him, grinder, he's clutch in the playoffs, etc *but* I like him now cause he's a Leaf!

Nash, Hyman, Mikheyev, Foligno, Engvall and Kerfoot is is a pretty strong checking group and should support our scoring lines well.

Our PK should get better simply because we have Jack in goal, but it's still only 20th right now and the two new guys should be big additions in that department

Admit it, he plays much bigger than that.
He is a tough, finish your check type player that is an absolute necessity in the playoffs.
oh i totally agree with that,,he is Hyman with a bigger bite

but the fact remains,,, he is 6ft and to call that "big" is just wrong

Can’t believe the amount of negativity on this thread..ya’ll are crazy. Foligno in the Playoffs will be a BEAST. His Leadership, Grit and sheer Will is EXACTLY what this team needs. Leafs should be going all in this year and so yes the price is high, but ultimately worth it. I look at it as Foligno for a 1st(really almost a 2nd) and a 4th. The Nosen dude for a 4th. All in a year where picks are wayyyy less valuable due to what has gone on with COVID - very little chance to scout. Leafs also got a known prospect, even if he is AHL bound, for a unknown 4th. Leafs still have plenty of picks and not to mention ALL their bluechip prospects still. Some of you need to look at the big picture. Leafs are poised for a deep playoff run! The best part is I don’t think Dubas is done. I think a depth D or Goalie or both are still coming.

Dubas nailed it again. The Leafs are playoff ready. Hope Campbell stays healthy.

We have witnessed the resurrections of the careers of Jason Spezza and now Alex Galchenyuk. The rise of one of the leagues hottest goalies. The maturation of the of one of leagues’ top offensive squads.

The addition of Foligno brings an even higher calibre of work ethic, grit, and fills the only weakness that had been plaguing this team for the past 4 seasons since the rebuild started and the Shanaplan was being mapped out.

The whole NHL has put the Leafs on notice.
