Lmao Noesen is irrelevant in the deal, he was a 1st round pick yes but that was in 2011. He’s just AHL depth that could play on the 4th line if we get decimated in injuries but we’d be in a bad position if he wasWe got their 1st 21st overall in Noesen in this deal why is everyone bent on saying we paid too much
so lmao is our 1st we gave the next Gretsky?Lmao Noesen is irrelevant in the deal, he was a 1st round pick yes but that was in 2011. He’s just AHL depth that could play on the 4th line if we get decimated in injuries but we’d be in a bad position if he was
Most people here complaining for some reason never even read the whole trade, we got a 21st overall player from them as well which cancels our 1st round payment so its like a 4th and only pay 25 percent of his salary for some extra power from a big guy who can score and flatten you. Just flabbergasted at all the negative comments of overpayment when we did do nothing of the sort and acquired a monster player who brings physical in spades
Vancouver games will likely get cancelled since their team is struggling with COVID, so probably once we get to WinnipegWhen do you think we will see him? Next Monday in Vancouver? Or on the 21st in Winnipeg? Hopefully he is going to arrive in Toronto tomorrow.
Yea I amFor some reason you aren't reading the replies to your posts.
That is great. I agree. Doesn't excuse making poor trades that doesn't upgrade the team relative to the price you pay. If you are trading 1sts for a rental, get an impact player. Foligno is not an impact player.
And the 1st we gave is he a bonafide? From 10 years ago, and who has only 204 NHL games since.

1st round picks are like playing roll up the win, you’re hoping to get that new car that changes your life/team while lots of other prizes could come your way too. You’re not hoping to get a stale plain donut that’s a week old, which is what Noesen essentially isso lmao is our 1st we gave the next Gretsky?
I understand that, and the context you were suggesting is that he was good in last year's playoffs. He wasn't. He sucked. He wasn't a positive contributing member to their success, at least on the ice. Also, he was caved in and wasn't that great in the two prior playoff series prior as well... Just not as badly as last year.
We are going to be going up against some of the strongest possession teams in hockey in these said playoffs. We are getting sold on his defensive game and ability to play up against these high end teams in the playoffs but he has proven, over 26 games in the past 3 playoffs, that he has not been able to keep up with these high end teams. It is not like he has offensive value to fall back on like he did in the past; he brings no offensive value. So what is he bringing? Physicality? Leadership? It doesn't help if he is a major liability everywhere else.
It would be different if the price was appropriate or the expectations were in check, but the expectation now is that this guy is an impact player and he hasn't been an impact player for a long time... Neither in the regular season nor in the playoffs. He is going to need to seriously outperform what he has done for the past few years now and that is a major gamble to take for a payoff that is almost certainly not going to exceed the price that we paid. Even if we win a Cup, I doubt Foligno would be enough of a difference maker to justify the cost.
And the 1st we gave is he a bonafide?
Ohh nice, I didn’t hear. No, didn't you hear that they are coming back on the 16th? Those games against Vancouver are on.
Cap space....still far more valuable than Kadri in a third line role.LOL after we trade kerfoot; what the F did we get back for Kadri then?![]()
no... we agree with the premise but disagree with the assertion that he's not an impact player.exactly ...
some people dont get this point .....
This is exactly the point. Why are people getting bent out of shape about giving up a pick that most likely will be lucky to equal Noesen 5 years from now. We are well past the building stage and into the win now stage. Foligno helps us win now and the mystery box help rebuilding teams. Teams like we used to be.From 10 years ago, and who has only 204 NHL games since.
ok, I guess time will tell but what I do know is we got a big man who brings physical and power and at one time had nice hands who when put in the right situation with our skilled guys could find that again as well. We needed some size and aggressive for the playoffs and imho he fits that billNo, but it has way more value than a 28 yo with 54 career points.
