Maybe you just don’t get it.
That's right, I don't. But the snarky douche reply is much appreciated.
Maybe you just don’t get it.
Fair enough.I can't speak for anyone else, but I very clearly was talking about our 1st not being a big deal to trade for days now. Definitely talked about it in the Trade Deadline thread earlier today as well.
Read back through my posts, I was the most vocal anti-Foligno person in that thread. Every other post talked about how I didn't want him in exchange for our 1st round pick
Hall definitely does. I'd also have taken Iafallo or Rakell. Overall, I just don't think the Leafs are a meaningfully better team now and that has to happen when you give up a first, otherwise it isn't worth it. We'll see if I'm wrong
This is the best D core we’ve had in I don’t know how long, we did need a bottom 6 forward with some jam and skill. This is what makes me think dubass giving a a first and two other draft picks for players for a month or two is stupid.
Team still needs defense.
Fair enough.
I’m referring to what people thought Foligno brings. Hey, I’m excited to add him, but I’m just speaking to cost. I’m assuming there was a bidding war.
We better hope that Foligno is willing to re-sign next year for about 3x 2.5m and play at a "reasonable" level for the next 3 years, until he's 35. That's about the only way we're getting the value out of him that Dubas gave up.
Bottomline beyond my criticism, it’s all about a cup. We’re closer now than two hours ago. I’m happy.Oh no doubt, there must have been. I'll be interested to see if we find out who we beat out for him..
We don’t really need scorers. We need players with intangibles that foligno bringsI am really not a fan of this. A 1st for a 30 pt player? C’mon.
That aside, it's still a strange position to take in juxtaposition with everything else you said.
I’d rather be the team that doesn’t over pay and wins personally.Teams always overpay at the deadline. That's the game when one team is adding to try and win a Cup.
I'd rather be the team overpaying than the team getting a good return during a failed season.
Line #1 - Hyman
Line #3 - Foligno
Line #4 - Simmonds
Almost each line up front has someone that can play a nasty game now.
For all the Hyman comparisons one question I have is:
is the 33 year old Folingo close to as fast as Hyman? Very big part of Hyman game both on the force checking and supporting his speedy linemates is his good speed
Don't see it. This doesn't move the needle on that direction, IMO.
