Bruins fans seem awful cocky about getting a 1st round pick. You should probably look at your teams draft history before trashing the leafs for trading their pick. The last time the Bruins drafted anybody useful in the first round was 2014.

So the leafs trade a potential 3C someday, and some magic beans that Boston doesn’t know how to activate for Brandon Carlo signed/retained for 2 more years.

Yikes

I am a Leafs fan.

Trading a young #2 C and a 1st for a bottom pairing D man is not a good investment.
He's not a #2 C. He isnt even an everyday NHLer. You are reaching here. Minten hasn't even shown much offensive ability in junior, not the kind that projects as top-6 in the NHL. He's a big kid, with a high IQ. Carlo is not a bottom-pairing Dman either. All you have to do is look at his ice time, he plays 19-20 min a night as a defensive dman. That isn't bottom pairing.

Set with two guys who should decline pretty steeply soon in Tanev and OEL? Two more guys that could age out in Rielly and McCabe? A guy with seven thousand concussions in Carlo?

I think you're being a bit optimistic. Three years is a long time in the NHL.

I see no reason to believe Rielly, Carlo and McCabe don't have at least 3 years left in them.

Rielly is only 30, Mccabe is 31 and Carlo is 28 it's reasonable to believe that they have 3 years left in them.

Tanev has 2 good left in him for sure

and OEL is on the bottom pair now so if he falls off and much like Tanev I don't expect OEL to fall off for at least 2 years but even if he did he's on the bottom pair now so it doesn't hurt as much.

The Leafs top 5 defense are set for the next 3 years,.

It's 15% retention lmao, and Carlo is horrible. Let's calm down.

Not sure about cocky, but they are happy with the return, and they should be. They got a good return. Every seller got a good return this deadline. Friggin Luke Schenn got a 2nd and a 4th lol.

I’ll let McAvoy and Frederic’s moms know they aren’t useful.

I think Bruins fans are too hard on him but he has not been good this year. Has been getting worse every season and has had too many bad concussions. He can be solid but it's risky. Don't hate it for us assuming we sold high, don't hate it for the Leafs as he's a really solid top-4 defenseman if he can get back to form.

He's soft and absolutely will turn the puck over a few times again.
Its not his turnovers, every D does, its his inability to make any passes beyond basic HS plays and how often he ices the puck. NIW that Saud Toronto's superior forwards all to a degree minimize his beyond obvious weaknesses.

McCabe and tanev would be first pair
At evens, yes. Carlo is going to play heavy minutes, especially on the pk, so Tanev doesn’t have to. Having Carlo means Tanev won’t take so many hard minutes and will be a better player too.
Carlo was a really smart add because his presence makes Tanev more effective.

Have you seen what Treliving has done to the teams he's managed? I don't believe that he knows what he's doing at all actually.

Bring a team who had absolutly nothing at the beggining to make it decent team despite player who don't want to stay of being one of worst attractive team/ city in the entire league for player?

Sure everyone don't have the chance to be gm of a Florida team where you don't need to do anything to convince player to come play there

Well, TOR needed an upgrade on their bottom pairing. I didn't care much for Timmins and guys like Myers and Benoit aren't anything special at all.

When the Leafs signed OEL, some had a rather low opinion of him, but many Panthers fans seemed to think he was a solid number five at worst. He's probably exceeded expectations.

If Rielly can step his game up in the playoffs, Tanev, McCabe, Rielly, Carlo, Ekman-Larsson and Benoit should be a good top six.

The price for Carlo seems a bit steep, but it was a seller's market this year.

Giveaway leaders tend to be high point scoring guys. Not with Carlo! You get all of the giveaways and none of the offense. He's in some elite company here!

If you take Carlo for what he is you'll love him

Bruins also had the 2015 draft stink when he was one of the brighter picks.... in the second round.

He skates well and doesn't treat the puck like a grenade, good position Good defense good decisions usually with the puck and away.

Just solid steady quiet mid pairing defensive defenseman.

Not flash no big plays no big hits.

When you watch him play though, you just wish he was more.
He is terrible with the puck, icing it way, way to often.
