I saw him lauded as a shutdown 2C.

To me he seemed likely to peak as a Silfverberg/Henrique type.

But f***, in Boston, knowing our luck, we just dealt them Bergeron 2.0.

I'm not worried about that because Brandon Carlo is EXACTLY what this team needed I have said all season I wanted a guy that can bump down OEL and if you could do that your defense is set.

Brandon Carlo does that now their defense is set.

their forwards got better with Laughton

they are significantly better today then they were yesterday and that's what matters.

The future is NOW

You have a different opinion that all analysts and it's always negative regarding former Bruins so I take your opinion with a grain of salt.

Carlo is bad but Minten who struggles to score in the AHL and a 1st 2 years away is a great return? Sure, you're entitled to that opinion. Most Leafs wanted Minten to be the trade piece.
Carlo should be fine paired with Reilly.

He handles the puck like a grenade tho & to be fair, he’s looked pretty horrible this year. But so has 90% of the Bruins roster.

I assume with an actual system in place & a competent coaching staff the Leafs will be getting a solid shut down/defensive right handed D who is quite good on the pk

Very happy with the return for Boston tho.

Thoughts on Minten?
Solid prospect, decent upside, could be a good piece on the 3rd line. I’m not going to pretend to know every little thing about a Leafs prospect. Decent size, 20 years old. There’s lots of time for him to grow.

With Carlo, he’s declining, and has a brutal concussion history.

Sure and the Leafs traded 2 pieces that might not amount to anything.

You're looking very favorably at the shiny new tows while undermining the players who have carved out a long and solid NHL career. Lots of times the shiny new toys amount to nothing. Minten isn't too strong offensively, barely a PPG in the WHL so best case might be a 3rd line/4th line C. A 1st in 2027 who knows, it's protected though so it'd be the lower range.

That's all we need tbh, we want a #4D to pair with Rielly and it seems like he can do that for us. At 3.5 it's good for the cap too

That’s a fairly accurate take on minten

A good 2 way 3 C who can chip in 40ish points is what I think his ceiling is/was

He hasn’t really produced well at any level, but he has a really good iq especially in his own end. You’ll see that by watching him in the ahl.

They might not, but they also might? Again, I think you’re arguing just to argue.

I said I’m thrilled with the return, you don’t like me saying that. Just call it as it is.

I don't care about your take on the return. I'm calling you out for undermining Carlo while other Bruins fans aren't.

I think the bottom part is what I like the most. He seems defensively responsible from what I’ve read and the admittedly very little I’ve watched him.

Sure. However there’s a ton that view him in a similar manner to me, so, cool?

He’s an average stay at home d-man. That’s my opinion.

Your tune will change quickly when you watch Carlo get hemmed in his own zone time and time again on a single man forecheck. He definitely has some positives for sure , but he’s not pushing the leafs past the panthers, and probably not even TB.

You don’t have an actual Vezina candidate. The triggered-ness of Toronto fans is wild. Your goaltending is suspect AF and the entire league knows it. But pretend your opponents aren’t licking their chops looking at a Stolrarz/Woll duo.

But beyond that I know you’re triggered because I literally posted that the acquisitions made sense and that I don’t believe in paying a goalie. Coming from a poster who is clearly a Rangers fan. I would not pay Igor in 100/100 scenarios. But acting like you have some stalwart duo is wild. You’ve had massively improved team defense. You can win a Cup with your tandem. Your tandem isn’t ever winning you a cup. Get the difference? I literally was mostly complimenting the
moves. It must be really hard living with the prosecution complex of a Leafs fan.

Edited because Leafs fans cry if autocorrect makes a spelling boo-boo.
Wow. You are triggered.

You can watch Carlo lift a Cup.

Why did you keep mentioning the return then?

Carlo hasn't looked good this year but could play better with the Leafs possibly. He's never been anything special though. A generally solid defensive defenseman but he makes some bone headed plays and doesn't use his size enough. He has no offence to his game at all. I'm really happy with the return but I don't think it's a bad trade for the Leafs either. He makes them better this year and that's what they need.
