I disagree.

I don't see how this was necessary at all.

Andersen, with Bernier at 2, was a solid tandem.
Better than Andersen/Sparks, and if you want Bibeau to become anything more, playing him as backup int he NHL won't help that

This is my main concern, now they to search for someone else.
Possibly Enroth.

I was one of many who said that both Bernier and Reimer would eventually be gone.

It's not about cap space really for Ducks - just salary.

Still seems like they wont have that much room to play with,
under 10M cap space with 10 forwards, 6 D-players and 2 goalies, Lindholm and Rakell need to be re-signed.

Seems quite expensive backup for the situation.

Doesn't Anaheim still have quite a few holes up front and have a tight budget? $4.15m for a backup goalie.

That was my first thought. Seems like a lot to pay for a backup. Maybe they've got a suitor for JB that TO wouldn't have traded with ala Jones last season.

So if Bernier is better than Andersen should he then be new #1 for Ducks? Andersen was clearly better than Gibson.

Toronto can sign any average UFA goalie, or even claim some youngster on waivers. That will give them the backup they need, and it will cost a quarter of Bernier's contract.

It's obvious to me that the Toronto management team decided Reimer/Bernier wasn't ever going to work. So they are both gone.
